We stayed in Ancestors Lodge during our 3 day safari. The lodge has a beautiful, big courtyard with the little houses around. The houses are comfortable and clean with a spacious bathroom. The mess for breakfast and dinner is big and has an upper floor with a panoramic view of Manyara lake. The stuff was friendly and helpful and willing to respond to all of our requests. When we needed WiFi they turned their mobile into a hotspot so we can connect and they even let us use their laptop. Even though we faced some issues with the electricity and the hot water, the stuff immediately fixed the problem. Undoubtedly, the highlight of our stay was the food. They carefully prepared for us hearty and delicious meals everyday and they always welcomed as with a refreshing juice and a hot wet towel to wash our hands. If you're looking for a good place to stay, choose Ancestors Lodge and you will not regret it!…
Spiritual Ancestors play a relevant role in African cultures; other more tangible African Ancestors - though equally elusive - have played another important role in our ancient past and in shaping us as we are now. There is a hidden reference to this past and these people in the name of the lodge, as well as to a lifelong dedication to the study of these very special ancestors. The lodge is situated about 10km east of Karatu, connected to B144 by a short unpaved road among the fields, immersed in the peace of a lush garden that keeps the mesmerising atmosphere of the bushland, thanks to a skillful and perfectly balanced taming of the wild vegetation. You may also enjoy a gorgeous view overlooking Lake Manyara. It is a perfect locaton for a long stay and/or for accessing the nearby Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The complex includes a spacious and stylish common area, perfectly equipped with an area for meals and with - most welcome - sofas and armchairs. A swimming pool was under construction during my visit. You will sleep in small and cosy tin-roof masonware bungalows, equipped with an extensive bathroom (warm water always available), mosquito nets on beds and fashionable furniture. Very good sleep quality, pleasurable dreams. Everything is spotless clean and the staff is extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. Not to be missed!…
We spent one night in this beautiful lodge very close to Karatu town, in the Rothia countryside. The rooms were clean and very comfortable, and the bathrooms wide and weel-equipped. Each bungalow is called as a famous specimen/locality related to the outstanding Tanzanian archeological heritage. I strongly recommend this accommodation, also for the breathtaking view of Lake Manyara and for the kindness of the staff.
very exciting staff, natural african bushes and and clear views of Mlima Moyo. I like the way we were welcomed, very charming Managers. The room was nice especially the bathrooms had adequate space and clean
