Our kayaking group of 6 stayed at Walters on a 4-day trip down the Colorado. Primo riverfront tenting with hot showers and a lovely covered waterfront patio with comfortable seating to gather and socialize. When we arrived in high winds with overnight storms predicted, campground host Tabitha was keeping an eye on the radar. Around midnight she came around to the tents announcing that nasty weather was coming in a half hour and she’d opened up the store for us to take shelter in. Good thing because two tents blew down. We were treated like family, even treated to hot coffee in the morning. Thank you Tabitha, see you next November!
Why would anyone drive 9 miles down a bumpy dirt road to be near the Colorado River for $40 when you can stay on Route 78 heading north into Palo Verde for 8 miles and camp at Cibola National Wildlife Refuge for $15.
