After always missed opportunity to stay at this property, I thought now it’s the right time. I was so shock to find out that : THEY STILL HAVE 4 (four) SMOKING FLOORS!! They put us in the 29th fl for the first 2nights and my Lord!!! the smell of cigarettes was so strong that we wanted to throw up & all our stuff smell horrible! And you CAN NOT open the closet because it’s too close to the bed desk:. AND THE LIGHT IN THE BALCONY ONLY CAN BE TURN OFF AT 11PM EVERY NIGHT!!!! so you’ll sleeping the bright light outside the balcony! YES, it’s true! Then they moved us to 33rd fl. (“NON SMOKING” floor) but honestly the smell of cigarettes were still too strong to ignore! What pissed me off was they didn’t provide you with dish soap etc and only gave us a very dirty old tea towel so dirty that you didn’t even want to touch it. To add salt to the wound, Katherine the girl at reception said I could have late check out but at the day, at 12pm, Tabitha the other girl told me the hotel is full so then I needed to checked out ASAP. Just like that. No sorry No warning at least 24 hrs before, but just hours before “my supposed to be the late check out”. So I decided to check out right away and moved to Fairmont even thou’ we’re flying out and had to go to the airport at 4pm! But better than being insulted by what so called “The Ritz Carlton”. The place is so outdated, hanging by the “THE” Ritz Carlton name, but, honestly it’s super overprice and super over thinking that they’re above any other brands. They are not. Will I come back? I rather spend my money to those who can keep their promise. When they promised you, you get the late check out, you get the late check out… (and of course other places in Jakarta, they’ll give you nice tea towels and dish soap). I wish the big boss of this big chain would read this…. PS: as always all the “little people” those who works to clean, to fix & to deliver room services, they all marvellous!! Not so to those who works in the front desk, the one who “pretend to look polite” but can’t deliver their promise.…

This is a true story. Came to check in and was instantly told, with no warning whatsoever, that our room is no longer available. Infuriated because I confirmed my booking for a whole week already, I asked how that was even possible. Blablabla bs reasons essentially saying they cannot (or will not?) do anything about it, and instead offered free meals as a peace offering for torpedoing my entire weekend getaway. I wanted an apartment, not a hotel room. These are 2 very different things. It's not like they're moving me to an exact duplicate, no, they are kicking me out of a confirmed booking into something I never signed up for, a generic hotel room. My entire weekend ruined. When a hospitality business fails to be hospitable, that's how you know they have lost their way.
