Has potential but need improvement

Savu island is a small island in East Nusa Tenggara . Main connection to other city is just by small plane ( 12 seat ) to Kupang ( in the afternoon ) and Waingapu ( in the morning ) that cost us around IDR 1.2 million one way ( Kupang - Savu island ). Alternate transportation is vessel from Kupang everyday , 4 hour by fast boat ( IDR 260 thousand ) and 9 hour by regular ferry ( IDR 350 thousand for cabin and IDR 250 thousand for deck floor ) . Rai Hawu is the best hotel available in Savu island . A bit far from Terdamu airport and Seba port , around 30 minute drive through the quiet and bumpy road . Hotel supposed to be close to a future airport later . Opened in 2011, hotel was occupied only by us . There are 8 staff working in the hotel, devided into 2 shift , all are nice people. Some pros and cons : Pros : 1. food was basic , but good taste. Pepaya and vegetable was fresh . Rice was white and taste good. They have tea and coffee everytime we need 2. Room was spacious 3. Linen was clean 4. aircon worked well 5. Refrigerator worked well 6. Hotel staff was nice and helpful Cons : 1. We stayed for 4d3n, and our room never be cleaned. 2. Electric was down on the 1st night and hotel didn’t have battery back up. They borrowed our car battery to connect with their genset 3. Water was off on the 2nd night, they need to call water supplier and we need to wait until the water tank came . 4. We came during dry season, hotel garden was very dry and nobody maintain it 5. Some building had broken terrace ceiling 6. Kitchen was not clean, they cook our food on the floor. 7. Bathroom only had towel. No other amenities ( soap, shampoo, etc ). Bathroom wall and mirror has many stains 8. Had some crack and fungi on the bedroom wall. Floor was also not stable, there were some floor shaking everytime we walked through and some ants came out from those floor. 9. Cable TV was cut off on the bedroom. …

Nice Rooms, Odd Location

This resort style hotel seems to be in the middle of nowhere, but apparently will be close to a new planned airport one day. The rooms are modern and attractive with very large bathrooms. We didn't stay here, only called in for a look and a coffee (which was very nice). it would be a good place to stay to see the eastern part of the island/beaches. Unfortunately the swimming pool was just a mosquito breeding ground with slimy green water sitting in the bottom of it. Seems to be the best accommodation available on the island, but a long way even from the government offices, and not very close to the beach.

Middle of the island

This is a fairly modern establishment probably designed to accommodate government officials, so its just a basic place. Can be used as a transit point when moving from Seba town or Lopo Beach to the Southern or Eastern side of the island. The island isn't very big and if your there for the surf or swimming then your best staying on the coast. As soon as you get off the aeroplane just ask anyone where you can stay and some will accommode you immediatly because every one welcomes you. I like Lopo Beach next to Seba town.
