Arrived in Sistiania at the end of our holiday hoping to spend the last two days of our hols relaxing in the sun. We went into the tourist office and the lady recommended the Hotel Castelreggio. She showed us some lovely pictures of the hotel and on her advise we booked to stay here. The cost €50 each per night. I think we are quite easy to please and usually look on the positive as can be seen from my previous reviews. BUT What a chaotic hotel ? I don't think you could call it a hotel - more a very disorganised Bed and Breakfast. Our room was clean but there was an air of untideness about it. When we opened the window we looked out to a roof that had a pillow plus some other bits and pieces discarded. That was the theme of the hotel. The one BIG plus with the place is they had their own private beach with beds and free umbrellas. While they had their own carpark it was extremely difficult to get a parking as the area is packed during the summer by thousands of families. The main beach is divided into two sections: one is free, and the other charges a fee. As It is not always easy to find a parking place here alot of cars use the hotel car park. We enquired about visiting Duino and asked about restaurants we were told by the hotel staff that there was a lovely walk along the cliff 20 mins and that there were a number of restaurants in Duino. I must admit the walk along the cliff was beautiful but it took about 3/4 of an hour and we are good walkers. Duinio was like a deserted village with only one restaurant that was pre -booked. Lucky for us as we assumed we could get a taxi back after our meal. When we enquired about a taxi we were told there were no local taxis ! ! The nice waitress advised us to go up to the Bus Stop we got lucky here as we met a group of young people who were able to advise us on bus times etc. We got back to Sistiana coming on 9.p.m. and were lucky to get alovely meal in a hotel on the main road. Breakfast was also disorganised we were used to buffet style but this was really help yourself to a poor selection. This hotel has alot of potential beautiful location but it would neeed alot of money invested in it to bring it up to standard. We had decided to only stay one night so we went into Trieste and asked the girl in tourist office to recommend a place and she directed us to Grado what a pity we didn't get to spend our two nights there.…
