Johanna cottages review. So-so stay.

Very basic outdated cottages, with no luxury, low cleaning standards, good food though, and a beautiful beach. This is an honest review from a Western point of view as we couldn’t find many reviews online about Johanna cottages. In photos that we saw before we arrived, the cottage looked better than in real life. The cottages are very basic and very outdated, so you have to adapt. If you want a modern room and a good night's sleep and comfortable stay, hygiene, and a clean room look elsewhere and go to a hotel. As we didn’t have the problems described in the next paragraph in a hotel. If you can tolerate a very very basic and simple stay/room, 1 or 2 nights here is ok, not more. Can’t guarantee you have a good night's sleep though. The service of the owner and her employee is ok. Friendly people. Good varied food too. However, the outdated cottages with metal roofing sheets do need renovation (dirty walls, doors not closing well, insects keep coming through cracks, a lot of mosquitoes, rickety locks, insects in bed, small sink, you can only flush the toilet once in a while, rusty faucets and door handle). The stay at Johanna's cottages was so-so, but the service and food, and the environment (beach) made it bearable. We give the rooms/cottages a 4.6/10. For the food, we give a 7.6/10. For the service, we give a 7/10. However a note for the service: the trips/activities and car Johanna arranges are too expensive. We recommend finding your own driver from the airport and to the airport and arranging your own activities. Johanna asks for higher prices that are too expensive for Maluku/Indonesia. When you find info online you will see that prices are cheaper. So for activities and a driver/taxi, you end up paying more than necessary. Book your things in advance through for example some other company. For Johanna, we would certainly recommend renovating the outdated cottages every few years or so. Or upgrade the cottages to all stone houses and make them more modern. Then people can have a longer stay here and it makes it more bearable for westerners. And look up online how to clean metal faucets showers etc because a lot of it is dirty/rusty. Yellow/dirty walls as well etc. …

Nella splendida spiaggia sicuramente una dlee migliori scelte. Fronte spiaggia economico e con l'usuale stabdard indonesiano nei pasti di discreto livello. Johanna & family sono davvero molto cordiali ed attenti ad aiutarti in tutto quello che si desidera fare. La disponibilità poi di uno scooter da affittare ad un buon prezzo completa una sistemazione davvero buona. Certo non è il massimo del lusso ma in considerazione dei prezzi direi davvero molto buono.
