4-6th Dec 2023; Family of 4
2 adults, 8yr & 10yr olds.

We arrived in Jakarta a day before to catch the next day morning ferry.
There is only one 8am ferry to Pramuka daily, while the return journey is at 3pm.

We booked the tickets online, Easybook, to get seats on the morning ferry.
You can also buy the tickets on the day at the counter.
The ferry point is at Dermanga 16, Marina Ancol, Jakarta.
There are a few hotels around Ancol to stay if you’re afraid to be late.
Discovery Hotel & Mercure are the nearest. We stayed at Mercure.
The hotel provides transport to Dermaga Harbour for IDR50k.
If you’re carrying just a backpack, you can go for that morning walk, just 15mins.

There are two shops at the harbour, one is a provision shop & the other a small eatery.
At the scheduled time, they will drop the mic & call your name to board the ferry. The ferry was full & it was squeezy, mostly staff who works on the island. Journey took 1.5hours but we reached the island just after an hour.

The island is under-going some major construction especially the new ferry terminal; good to see progress. Currently, the jetty is messy with construction sand & tools, broken walkways etc. No signboards that state the completion date though.
No shops here, no washroom. It’s a get-off & get-out mode once you disembark.

Ferry arrived before 10am & check-in is 1pm. We checked in nonetheless, placed our bags at the reception hut & made our way exploring the island.

There are two types of accommodation at Pramuka Resort, hut & tentage. We stayed at the resort hut, so unable to review the tentage unit.
Our room for four is big & really spacious. AC works well, good interior plaster walls & tiled bathroom. Hot water is available in the bathroom & they provide towels too.
Beds & linens are fresh, we slept well all 2 nights. But not before spraying some Shelltox in the room.
The outdoor balcony is big, comes with a table & four chairs. Stands to hang your wet outfits are well-placed outside the rooms.
I can’t find faults here except the door-lock a bit tough, I thot the structure got misaligned over the years. Don’t expect 4 or 5-star resort, I am happy that everything works.
No TV, no fridge & wifi is practically at one bar; use data instead.
Rino & Riyan manage the resort. Really cool guys, very helpful & accommodative.

Pramuka is a non-resort island, that means there is a local community who work & live on the island. While a resort island is where there is no community, only the resort & it’s staff.
Good to note that Pramuka houses the Administration Office of the Thousand Islands. The Mother of the Islands, so to speak.
There are many homestays but only a handful resorts. Look for the best offer but stay near the sea.
There are about 4-5 eateries where you can enjoy good local meals.
Restoran 87 Tiang, Restoran Alam Nusantara are two good eateries.
Restoran 87 is located at the edge of the sea, over waters. They have three pool tables & a good sound system. Resto Alam is best for a quiet dinner.

It takes 45mins to an hour to complete the island walk. There are no roads here, only pathways. No cars, only motorbikes. They also have these electric bikes that is common with the locals & available for rent at IDR30k an hour. Good vibes, go try one!
Please bring your mosquito cream & patches etc. Best are those scented cream repellent available in local stores. Buy them before your ferry trip.
Provision shops come in push-carts, selling local street food. I loved the Iced Jeruk, a local citrus drink. You can get them anywhere in Indonesia, sweet & tangy. Having said that, I would not suggest buying candies or treats, unless you’re very sure of the sealed packaging & expiry date.
Nothing much to do at night here. Go for that quiet dinner at Restoran Alam Nusantara or sit around the jetty where they have a few eateries for the boat crew. Nice ambient to immerse in.

I booked the snorkeling trip for IDR250k/pax, thru the resort.
We went to an open-sea sand bank, it was truly magnificent. Above-knee crystal-clear water, white sand in the open sea. Best to go during high tide, otherwise this place is a white sand bank & most boats are unable to stop.
We went to two more locations with clear blue waters with colourful fishes.
Buy your drinks & bread for the fishes from the push-carts before your trip, otherwise the fishes would not be attracted to you & no chance of touching them, heh!
We had late lunch at a nearby island, Nusa Resto. Food is simply fresh & value for money.
Loved the experience.

The resort has a restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch & dinner. They also provide complimentary hot water, coffee & tea, at a sharing point within the resort & the restaurant.
You can buy instant cup noodles & get hot water for a quick hot meal.
I fancy saying you can sip a cup of coffee while overlooking some clear blue sunset, but there is none.

There is a mangrove conservation centre & turtle sanctuary on the island.
We did not venture to those places but walking around the island, I felt the mangrove is very important to these islands & protecting the livelihoods of the locals. Many islands have eroded; hence the necessity of a conservative mindset. So don’t expect white sandy beaches here. While you get clear waters you also get mangrove along the coastline & hard water-breakers.
The Sunrise beach used to be a long stretch of white sand, but has become unrecognizable. I was disappointed not to get my IG-worthy photo, but will be more disappointed if conservation fails.

All in all, it was good to stay here. The locals are friendly, resort is good & food, though limited, is good. The snorkeling captain & asst are so patient & knowledgeable.
Staying on the island gives you insights to the Indonesian culture & way of sea-life.
While you don’t see nice beaches here, the snorkeling trips will take you there.
Pristine waters & beautiful people.

Thank you Pramuka, I have learned so much. I will go to other islands like Macan, Pari & Tidung for my next trips…

Warning: There’s only one boat to this island every day so don’t make the mistake of booking this resort on the day you reach Jakarta if you can’t be at Marina Ancol by before 8am.

This island isn’t exactly heaven on earth. not the typical serene quiet kind of peace you expect to get. It’s a residential island, locals live and work there thus you can’t expect so much quiet and peace here. However, this resort is wonderful and has a small group of lovely and efficient crew. Simple room w wooden flooring emits beach vibes. They have two PowerPoint plugs in the room but not at the most ideal spot. Love their food! The nasi goreng (fried rice) is to die for.

As I mentioned earlier this is a residential island. There are no beaches here. So if you’re like me and you came for some reading yoga and picnic, you won’t get it. There are no boats from this island to other islands. But through this hotel, you can do an island hoping tour. As for me, I just wanted to go to the beach to read, yoga, chill and write so I was recommended Sepa island bout 1hr ish from pramuka. It costs $100. Yup but only this resort has this service. None of the boats outside will do this. Anw as a solo traveller, I was accompanied by two of the staff from this hotel to the island and throughout my stay there! Thank you guys!

There are a lot of cats here so I didn’t enjoy that part as I’m afraid of them.

Oh ya, amazing sunset view from the jetty in front. Perfect resort for divers.

First of all it seems the name of this resort has changed to SERIBU RESORT PRAMUKA.It is about a one hour speed boat ride from Jakarta's Ancol wharf no 16. The boat leaves just after 08:00 everyday and returns leaving from Pramuka at 15:00. You get tickets at an agent on the wharf before you leave for both ways.
The resort is very basic but with clean rooms and hot waterand well working wifi on a beautiful shady ground with huge trees right at the water. There are bungalow style rooms and two big tents with adjacent bathrooms. The room we had contained a nice clean double bed and a bathroom, air conditioned but basic. Restaurants on the island are limited, there is one very good seafood restaurant a 15 minute boat ride away. The boys from the resort will cook you a very nice seafood BBQ if you tell them early enough. There are a few small warungs and a highly recommended Masakan Padang nearby. The Teras Pramuka next door was also quite nice.

Very quiet, no cars, recommend a stay of at least two nights and definitely do a snorkelling trip if you are not there for diving anyway.
