Stylish spa hotel with a rude concierge.

Upon arrival at midday we found the main door locked with a sign saying that reception is closed over lunchtime. Very strange indeed, not even a chance to leave our luggage? The concierge inside was parading up and down near the door, ignoring our glances. There was no doorbell either. Hence we went to the spa entrance and asked the receptionist there for advise. The was very friendly and walked us upstairs to reception. There we were greeted by the very off-standish concierge who told us “that we came in anyway although the main door was closed” (his own words), although he saw the spa receptionist. He spoke to us like naughty school children. We were baffled. Strangely, he told us to go to the hotel reception, which was staffed with to people to check in. How odd. Also the fact that the restaurant and bar in the same room was open too. We checked in, went for a drink and then for a walk in the village until our room was ready (notification over text message - very convenient).

Our room in the house of architects was very stylish. We loved the shower right in the room with the futuristic, yet warm style and nice amenities. The room is on the small side, but that did not bother us.

I visited the spa and hotel several times before, as I just adore the style. Zumthor, the architect of it is just a genius.

It’s a shame that the first impression is spoiled by a concierge like that, as he was up to his antics again when we checked out. He was bothering me as I stopped in the lounge to get my reading glasses out of my handbag. Again, his behaviour was aloof and frankly rude. All other members of staff were friendly and welcoming, but he spoiled our experience. Simply unacceptable.

Spectacular baths

Of course you normally come all the way to Vals to experience these baths. That's what we did and have not been disappointed: they are absolutely splendid, even spectacular in some respects with these high stone walls and refined design. Temperature of the various basins was perfect. We were there both by day and night and both experiences were superb.
Now... you should note that there is unfortunately no sauna. Only a small, strangely designed and a bit hidden steam bath is nude. No bar, no refreshments, no food is offered and, at least in winter, only a few chairs are available for reading. So it's bath or bath or bath... not much choice! This is the main complaint one might have with the place (besides the close to scandalous access price of course!). Anyway beautiful indeed.

A visual and sensory delight

The desingn of this thermal spa is exceptional, the purity of the structures, the lighting, the materials, the whole visual effect is impressive! It is truly one of a kind and that makes it def worth a visit! We had lovely treatments as well, very professional and the skincare products (ESPA) are amazing. As i suffer from lower back pain it was a bit disappointing that there were no mid-level water jets, only low ones (massaging the lower legs/feet). There is also no sauna, however there are nice turkish baths. One of the other odd elements is that there are few options to leave your bathrobes, they can hang over a frame but it looks messy when there are many (like an untidy sportsroom). The refreshments area was also a bit sparse (just water and apples). Overall still a great experience.

I am very disappointed that my experience tonight was not silent.

On Friday and Sunday it is a privilege to hotel guests to enjoy the therme in silence from 23:00-01:00.

It is an evening I look forward to and plan my stay around it. In fact, due to your booking policies over the weekend, there is a two night minimum at the 7132 Hotel. I am not referring to the House of Architects. This is my third time here and I always stay over a Friday or Sunday so that I can enjoy the baths as Zumthor intended — in silence.

Silence is non-negotiable. There is no nuance to the word. One cannot be „partially” silent. You’re either silent or you’re not.

On two accounts I had to inform the night „guards” that there were people talking — everywhere. He asked for specifics. I said the outdoor pool, the red hot caldarium, the main pool steps, the area before the cave, even in the very, very back nude steam there was talking.

This is unacceptable as a guest paying over 2000CHF.

I am an Italian citizen and it is well known in Europe that DACH has the most rule abiding citizens. As you are probably aware, in Austria you will get fined if you stand on the left side of an escalator. And in Zürich if you do not pay for a fine and repeat the misconduct again there is an additional surcharge on top of the fine.

What rules are being enforced here? These repeat offenders should be banned from the Therme.

It is not up to other guests to kindly and quietly remind them that it is silent as I had to several times tonight — they simply do not listen.

I left in under an hour as it was so unenjoyable. I come
here to meditate, to be in silence — for a reason. I am not being intolerant in this case.

I let the lady at the Therme check-in know as she is very serious and handles everything with the utmost of professionalism. I remember her from the many times I have been here and she is exceptional. I wish the other staff could learn from her and how she respects her job.

This has certainly put a damper on my last evening here and left a very bad taste in my mouth about what is meant to be a „special” exclusive SILENT experience for the guests. Even the sign before the turnstile announces this „trust us — you’ll enjoy it better, too.”

Excellent sanitation. Ok location. Very nice and relaxing pools. Not too many people. Beautiful view. Will definitely visit again!
It is a little bit overpriced though.

Bath in the architecture
This place is amazing both in space and in spirit. The architecture is the main reason I went there, but the service was excellent and above my expectations. The next time I will come back also to experience again the quality of this hotel. All the people working there were very professional and caring.

Doesn't match the prize with the poor experience

The Vals Therme are an exaggerated renowned place. To come there you must walk on a long stair. If you aren't a guest of one of the hotels of 7132 chain you have to pay 80 CHF (!) to enter. To be a guest in the less expensive of the hotels you must pay something like 300 chf for a double with breakfast (!) in an hotel without elevator.
The architecture of the Therme is oppressive. Compared to other thermal locations in Switzerland or Austria it has very few attractions, no saunas and just two steam bath. No explanations are written, not even the temperature of the waters.
At the entrance they give you just one towel. For Covid restriction you cant't bring towels from outside. If you want a bathrobe you have to pay an extra 20 chf. The funny thing is that the towels they give you are all the same so it is very difficult to make out the yours and... bye bye Covid restrictions!
No, it isn't worthwhile.

Very fancy, very pricey

The hotel seems very luxurious and it is expensive to stay. Unfortunately the rooms are very small and not very conveniently furnished, and there's only one elevator for the entire building.
The thermal bath on the other hand is great and it's included also for the departing day.

Best Wellness Experience

Since many years it was on my to do list and finally we made it. And all the way there it was absolutely worth! I can’t wait to go there again.
The architecture is stunning and of course the vals water is like perfect wellness for your skin body and well-being

High expectations

Very nice design (beautiful stonewalls) but I was not impressed.
Clean and the employees were friendly. It is a good idea to go for once just for the experience.
