We were so looking forward to this since we've heard that most animals are active at night. We were totally underwhelmed with the experience. We didn't see many animals and the guide was unremarkable. After seeing some very ordinary spiders he related the hoax that the daddy long leg is the most venomous spider but that it's mouth isn't big enough to bite through human skin. After that, I didn't feel that I could believe any facts that told us.

Regarding the comments about the spiders, there seems to have been a misunderstanding. Our guide Dio was discussing two different types of arachnids during your tour—the Opiliones, commonly known as 'daddy long legs,' which are indeed harmless, and the 'Brazilian wandering spider,' known for being highly venomous. We apologize for any confusion caused and appreciate the opportunity to clarify this.
Our guides, including Dio who has over 18 years of experience, strive to provide accurate and engaging content. We regret that this was not your impression, and we take your feedback as a critical reminder of the importance of clarity in our communications.

This place is very touristic. We took the hanging bridge tour without a guide and had to wait in the line even though we had booked tickets in advance. We could not use the tickets to enter the parc directly but first we had to go to the ticket counter to retrieve our tickets. for that we waited in the line with all the other groups that booked for the zip line. I do not recommend this place for a tour through the cloud forest.

Our tour was cancelled due to bad weather (there was a thunder storm), so it was rescheduled to the next day for free. I appreciate the focus on safety first.
The tour was about 2 hours. We mostly saw reptiles and insects, but were lucky enough to see a toucan and other birds as well.
The guide was quite knowledgeable and kept in contact with the other guides to know where to find the animals. He was also nice enough to focus his flashlight on the animals until everyone had seen it and taken pictures (you will receive a dim flashlight yourself)
Due to low light your pictures won't be that good with a normal smartphone.

Our most disappointing tour while in CR. Nothing wrong with the guide but the meeting point was already full with at least 50 people who were grouped into several smaller groups. But you bumped into them throughout on the trail. This is not the way to enjoy the forest at night. Wildlife our evening was also very disappointing, only a couple of snakes, sleeping birds and insects. You are better off doing a trail around your hotel.

We do clearly state on our website that during peak season, we’re often busy, but we ensure that groups are kept small to make the experience more personal. While the park may seem crowded, we carefully divide all our guests into smaller groups, each with a dedicated tour guide. For those seeking a truly personalized experience, we also offer the option to upgrade to a private tour. We appreciate your comments and will continue to work on improving our tours. We did the canopy tour and it was outstanding: totally recommend! The circuit is well maintained, security is key and there is some extreme emotion on it

The tour was pretty good, I would give it 4 stars for the variety of wildlife seen and the knowledge of the guide. We saw a toucan, snake, scorpions, a kinkajou, small frogs and a variety of birds. The reason I'm only giving 3 stars is because we waited 10 minutes for a couple who were late, but the tour ended exactly on time, so we didn't get the full 2 hours. It was frustrating watching other groups start their tours at 6pm on the dot, but we had to wait around until 6:10pm, therefore getting 10 minutes less time than any other group. The tour instructions clearly say to arrive 5 minutes before, so if people are late then the tour should just leave without them, otherwise it's not fair on those who have arrived on time.

Pleasant walk through the jungle forest at night. Saw spiders and frogs and snakes scorpians and some kind of tree raccoon. Overall guide very knowledgeable and was a good experience.
Can't do anything about the other groups talking loudly. We tried to move about quietly so that we could hear animals move in the trees above and then spot them. We moved away from the loud people quickly.

Our tour guide was extremely informative and friendly! We had a small group which made it easier to navigate. He helped take great photos of the wildlife he spotted and made it a great experience for all of us. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Monteverde

My husband and I did the night tour at 8pm, along with a few other people, 6 total including our guide. We saw lots of interesting insects, reptiles, and animals including a stick bug, owl moth, leaf cutter ants, a scorpion, green viper snakes, several birds, an armadillo, a tarantula, a glass frog, a horned grasshopper, and a sloth (yes, we got lucky!). Our guide was very knowledgeable in terms of where to look for wildlife and we had a great experience overall! We enjoyed this semi-strenuous walk, but note that this is not an easy/flat night walk.
Two things that we thought could be improved: 1) The guide could have provided more explanation of things and spoken more slowly; 2) The guide could have given more detailed/clear instructions of how participants should behave (e.g., don't swing your flashlight around, don't shout, move out of the way after your turn at the telescope, etc.), since some of the people on our tour were very loud and had little spacial awareness.
Two things that we thought could be improved: 1) The guide could have provided more explanation of things and spoken more slowly; 2) The guide could have given more detailed/clear instructions of how participants should behave (e.g., don't swing your flashlight around, don't shout, move out of the way after your turn at the telescope, etc.), since some of the people on our tour were very loud and had little spacial awareness.
