Ingo makes beautiful and surpricing amber jewellery and art pieces. Occasionally he hosts amber polishing workshops. I love coming there.

The sign to this amber workshop was on the western beachfront of Hiddensee as we walked from Vitte to Kloster. It was a few minutes' walk from through greenery to the workshop. Around the walls we saw photos and articles showing the jeweller himself out in the stormy seas collecting amber. (A reminder of why walking along the beach hoping to find some is probably fruitless.) That makes this different to the usual showroom of jewellery made who-knows-where. I had been keen to find some amber jewellery on Ruegen to take as gifts for friends, and the necklaces we bought here featured stones that had been cut into shapes that one doesn't normally see - such as quarter moons - making them quite distinctive.
