Great Amphitheater

There is a very large amphitheater at the center of the complex. However, there is not a lot else, although numerous buildings and outlines of buildings are on exhibit. The museum has several sculptures and capitals retrieved from the site. Nice to see, but if you are pressed for time, this is not a site I would go out of my way to visit.

A very interesting place!

The entire place is very interesting, and it has a certain peacefulness which made us think of Asklepios's healing gifts. The site consists of a small museum (ancient instruments used for surgery included), Asklepios's sanctuary and his residence, a big ancient theatre which I think is among the best preserved in Greece, ruins of the accommodation area for the guests, a stadium, and others. The theatre and the stadium were probably included in the healing process, together with the nice view of the mountains. It is a very interesting place to see and I highly recommend it!

An Archaeologic Assembly of Great Structures, Not to Be Missed

If you are anywhere near Nafplio or Corinth as you make your way across the Pelopenesse, the archaeologic site at Epidaurus is an essential stop. The site includes the Santuary of Asklepios, the Great Theater and the extensive grounds that cover the ancient Greek city of Epidaurus. Your visit here also includes the small on site museum that possesses a disproportionately sized collection of artifacts. While smaller in scale than Mycenae and comparable to Argos, the site at Epidaurus should not be missed.

Asclepius archeological healing center of Epidaurus

Just 2 hours from Athens, a must see place. Actually the first healing center of the world. Mostly soul healing place. God Asclepius medical center, the fist doctor!

One of the top five in Greece

This was one of my top five things that I saw in Greece. I was so impressed by the construction of this theatre. Our tour guide had us climb to the top of this 15,000 seat theatre and she dropped a coin and ripped a piece of paper on the stage and we could hear it just as clearly as if we were in the front row. Amazing! We didn’t have time to visit the other areas at this site so I can’t comment on them.

Epidaurus was a small city (polis) in ancient Greece, on the Argolid Peninsula at the Saronic Gulf. Two modern towns bear the name Epidavros:Palaia Epidavros and Nea Epidavros. Since 2010 they belong to the new municipality of Epidaurus, part of the regional unit of Argolis. The seat of the municipality is the town Lygourio.[2]
