Very enjoyable day out, good disabled access. Looking at rooms full of musical instruments may not sound too exciting, but what stories they tell. I love these small museums, you don't get overwhelmed, and always come away having learned something. A real treat, handily located near Kew Green.

Amazing place! The guided tour was excellent! The guide demonstrated many unique instruments and gave me lots of interesting stories. Definitely worth a visit!
First floor had lots of instruments and the 2nd floor had a very big organ for the silent movie and you can even see that demonstration!
びっくりするほどよく保存されたユニークな楽器を実際に演奏してくださいます。一階のピアノンや蓄音器もすごいですが、2階のオルガンは圧巻です。ガイド付きツアーが絶対におすすめです。

My regret is that I didn’t write my review for my visit in April IMMEDIATELY!!!
This is an amazing place and was a lovely find. You don’t have to be musical, just to love beautiful things.
I did the 2 hour guided tour with a friend and a small group of others where we were all enthralled!
The main attraction (apart from the amazing instruments) was the wonderful guide, Roy Huddlestone.
He is so knowledgeable, enthusiastic and willing to share his passion for the Musical Museum. I won’t embarrass him further, but to do three 2 hour sessions on one day and to keep it fresh and fascinating for visitors is a great talent!
The museum is a charity and does not receive government funding. The staff are volunteers who love what they do.
I would urge you to cross the river (or not) and make your way to this establishment. You could combine with a visit to Kew Gardens and experience gorgeous things all day!

I came up for a Brentford game and had the morning to kill so thought I'd give it a go (expecting a load of old dusty panios). Instead roy was amazing and not only explained everything but let us try some of it out. Really enjoyed myself and whatever your age and however musically talented you are this is a real find. Top marks go to roy and the other volunteers.

Roy the 91yrs old volunteer was exceptional and gave us the best tour around the museum. I learned so much. Thank you Roy! My son could not stop talking about the experience for days. Must visit.

What a glorious museum with such intricate and magical music boxes.
Our master Guide was truly engaging and we found each exhibit more enchanting than the next.
Do not miss this special museum.

Simply superb. 91 year old host Roy gave us a truly illuminating tour of these self playing musical machines. One of London’s hidden gems :)

A friend lives in the area and recommended to visit this museum. I've arrived with no expectation and first opted out of the guided tour. Then I hear this wonderful gentleman talking about and demonstrating instruments so passionately that I got totally sucked into the vibes and followed the tour.
I loved that you can try out the instruments and end up I was there till closing time and didn't want to leave :)
A wonderful and very educational and fun experience. The highlight for me was the violone player. It's amazing.
Located outside of central London and away from the tourist attractions but it is well worth travelling out to Brantford and visit this museum especially if you are into music, history and instruments.
At first I thought £12 was a bit dear for entry but well worth every penny.
Thank you!

The museum is staffed by volunteers and was closed until the 4th January. Try them next week, they should be up and running again. Well worth a visit.

Hi, Jan. What would you like to know about this attraction?
How do I contact the museum. I don't seem to be able to find a telephone number or email address that they answer.

And I found the email address on their home page, scroll to the very bottom. TA won't let me post it.
But like the person above said, they were probably on their holidays if you tried this past week.

Hi. How far is it from the Music Museum to the nearest tube station? Are there any buses?
Thanks

You can catch the train to Kew Station from Waterloo. It's about 2 minutes walk from there. You could also go to Kew Gardens station and catch the 65 bus from there. That will take longer.

Their website states that the museum also has a "recreated street" but I can't find any review that mentions this. We love such things if they include old shops etc. What exactly does the museum have in this regard please?
Hi Nonglak, we have a small replica street with recreated shop fronts from a bygone era, to provide a setting for our street and barell organs. There are a couple of photos of the street gallery (also known as Lamb’s Passage) on the website. Unfortunately due to lack of space, it is not a real street and the shops are not fully fitted out.
I hope this answers your query.

They can listen to the presentation + will probably be invited to interact with the instruments. Very nice experience.
