A bit of a climb, but well worth it for the panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. On a clear day, you can see half the province.

You need to drive 2 hour from bologna and you get in this special mountain. You can have a lunch in the guesthouse with very good ravioli in various kinds of flavours. If you sleep a night there you can see fantastic lightened grasses on the dark! Just walk upon the mountain and in an hour and half you will arrive on the top easily, seeing beautiful views all around for miles and miles. History of middle age and nature are all you breath. Magic!

Dante's view of Purgatory

Dante's in his "Divine Comedy" refers to the cliffs of Bismantova, by equating scaling your way out of Purgatory with scaling the cliffs of Bismantova. A place to hike and perhaps reflect on our destiny. Beautiful views for any number of perspectives.

Hiking with family!

We took the hiking tour with two families. The basic route was easy for the children to walk. I recommend this for families and to take the 4 km tour (Pietra di Bismantova).

My family found this place an incredible experience. We slowly walked up to the top to be amazed by the views over the hills. The restaurant half-way through is amazing as well, and they accept payment by card!

Stunning scenery, amazing views and very active

I was told about this amazing place by a friend who said it had amazing views and he was not wrong.

Upon arrival I was very lucky to get a parking space in the main carpark 9:30am which was free but when I left cars were parking down the entrance along the side of the road.

Walking up the first steps I was feeling it a little but soon was ok when I saw the bar :) . There was a part fenced off as there had been some debris fall from the rock but all you needed to do was walk past the bar if you have the will power and carry on along the trail.

It took approx 30mins normal pace till I reached the top, which I was greeted with amazing views and some vary daring slackliners which is amazing to see along with the rock climbers.

Again a little rushed for time but you can spend hours having picnics or just taking in the scenery.

A lovely little trip with a little bit of exercise and amazing views to take it at a little cost.

Climb that mountain!

Fabulous views when you reach the top. Climbing is fairly easy - took us about half an hour or so. (We chose the easier route)

Mountain high class restaurant

A fantastic restaurant slightly hidden from the ordinary tourist path. A genuine little restaurant as I said off the beaten track, but with very good, honest service. They serve good domestic wines with food that would make the TV-chefs go back to cookery school.
The prices are very reasonable and you get more than you pay for as it were. I don't think I've eaten any better in La bella paese.

Ideal for hot summer afternoons

I've been there with friends and we have a lovely afternoon playing cards on the wooden tables under the Pietra looking at the beautiful view of the mountains and at the people climbing the Pietra with just the basic equipment. You can also climb or hike, but we were a bit lazy. Also, there are a lot of great restaurants near, try some Lambrusco and some Gnocco fritto!

A really great place!

I have been there to camp.
We hiked to the top and once you re there, you have such an incredible panorama!
when we have been there, there was a free concert en the bottom .
So we put the tent and came back to enjoy the concert.
During that time we saw some light dot in the wall, it was some climbers enjoying to climb with the music! I really envy them too!
It was a great moment, nice concert and good atmosphear!
And at the end, back to the tent, and enjoy the stars before a good night :)
So I definitively recommend you to go there!
