I was doing the hike to the sangkareang mountain right next to the Rinjani. It was absolutely amazing! The guide Tguh was such an amazing guide! He was so positive the whole way, helped us on the hike, told us everything about the mountain and was making jokes the whole way which made it so fun! It was an amazing experience with the most beautiful views. I would highly recommend. Also the food they make on the tour was really good! Some of the best Nasi Goreng I’ve had in whole Indonesia! The hike was hard but Tguh really helped us achieve it.

We had a hike from Tetebatu to the top of Mount Sangkareang (3200m) and it was so nice. We had a very friendly guide, Iwan and a lot of funny and very helpful porters. They carried our bags, food and sleeping gear. The first day we hiked to the campsite which had an awesome view. And then at 3 am we started the hike to the top for a even more epic view. The hike is quite intensive but worth the effort. I really recommend this hike and organisation!

I had an incredible experience doing a one-day trek to Mount Sankareang (3200m) with Tguh as my guide. He picked me up at midnight, and we started the hike through the Monkey Forest under a starry sky. The pace was challenging but rewarding, as we reached the summit just in time for a stunning sunrise. From the top, I enjoyed breathtaking views of Mount Rinjani, a crater with a lake and hot springs, and the entire island of Lombok. It was a clear day, which made the scenery even more impressive. Unlike the busy Rinjani trek, we had the mountain all to ourselves, making the experience even more special. This trek requires good physical condition if done in one day and I would recommend spreading it over two days to fully appreciate the natural beauty. Tguh was attentive, friendly, and a great guide throughout the journey.

.Very grateful to Jaya, the guides and the porters that made my trek up Mt Sankareang so memorable.
CROWDS:
This side of the mountain is much quieter than the north (Senaru, Sembalun).
I was in a group of six people and we only saw a handful of others on the entire trail, if you’re looking for a peaceful trek away from the crowds then this is the one.
DIFFICULTY:
The hike is advertised as beginner friendly, this should be taken with a grain of salt, I’d rate this as a moderate hike. (30 year old male, half marathon runner).
My legs were sore for about a week afterwards, but the group I was in was very fit and we barely stopped for any breaks.
Don’t let this put you off, the guides will tailor the pace of the hike according to your needs and were extremely accommodating throughout the trip.
GUIDES, FACILITIES, FOOD:
The guides, porters and Jaya himself are all an awesome fun loving bunch of dudes and the real hero’s of the hike.
They setup camp, cooked, cleaned, handed out snacks, carried the water and did it all whilst wearing flip flops and a smile.
The food was surprisingly good and there was plenty of it! I was expecting a cold sandwich and a banana but had a cooked lunch, dinner and breakfast.
I was trekking solo and was allocated my own tent, the mattress was hard but you’re camping so if you’re expecting anything else then you’re in the wrong place.
Please note, there are no bathrooms on the trek but there is plenty of great outdoors.
TREKKING:
The first three quarters of the hike are through dense jungle / rainforest.
You catch glimpses of the views here and there but the real magic happens when you set camp for the night, you get a fantastic panorama of Rinjani above.
When you make it to the summit on Sankareang for sunrise, not only will you get some of the best views you’ve ever seen, but there’s a good chance you’ll have the place to yourself.
If you’re really lucky, your guide might even build a fire to ward off the cold.
LOGISTICS:
Jaya arranged a driver to pick me and my fiancé up from Bangsal Port the day before the trek. He even put us up in his guest house and his wife cooked us dinner.
This was a massive cost and time saver, and it made everything run smoothly.
TIPS:
Bring a head torch and a spare battery, leech spray wouldn’t be bad idea if you’re paranoid (there are a couple lurking in the jungle).
If you’ve got a spare pack of cigarettes, you’ll also be very popular with the guides and porters.
Rice wine is also a local favourite.
VERDICT:
I’ve never been on a trek that was organised so personally and professionally, I can’t recommend Jaya Trekker highly enough.
Special shout out to Jaya, Anip, Soup, Tguh, Yan, Raman and Jawa.
Looking forward to the next one already!

Amazing experience. Our guide was very attentive to the group. We took a road which is not crowded through the jungle. Our guide and porters made our trekk as easy as possible. I definitely recommend !

If you are looking for a once in a lifetime experience, this is it! From the people to the tracking, everything was organized amazing and we had so much fun. The staff that climbed the mountain with us where truly amazing and we will definitely recommend this to our friends.

This trek makes sure you are completely taken care of. A tent, mat, sleeping bag, food, drink, snacks...
The guide is great, fun and knowledgeable. I saw the sunset of rinjani and it was amazing! Just make sure you are fit and like hiking a lot because this hike is a good challenge for most!

It was an amazing experience !! Not crowed, almost all the trek is through the jungle, that's beautiful, we even saw monkey along the way. It was really intense for us because we weren't very sporty but we did it and it the insane view from the second summit was worth it ! Our guide and the porters did an amazing job, the food was good, and they were so helpful and funny.
