We visited the nature reserve on an overcast day at beginning of October. The coastal scenery with the little lakes, which are changing forms depending on winds and tides, is astonishing. The sanctuary of Madonna Nera of Tindari seems to watch over the beauty spot from above. Marinello was almost deserted with all bars and restaurants closed and holiday appartments boarded up, it had the flair of an abandoned seaside village.

Stunning view of these strips of sand from the Greek ruins. White sand which extends about 2 km and changes depending on erosion with a lagoon behind and blue seas, this is now a marine reserve but you can visit and sit on the beach.

The spectacular view from Patti, in the Northeast side of the Sicily island, in the Messina area. A lot of attractions here.

Authentic. No airs and Grace's, great combination of scenery, very chilled out. Unusual mixed bunch of inoffensive locals. Well worth a visit for a real Sicilian experience. Relatively cheap
Food and coffee along the main beaches which is A third of the price of every other place we have been which means its probably catering for the locals. Also the walk from the main beach down to the lounge and back was a nice little walk and stretch.

We spotted this ‘tongue’ of sand whilst visiting the Sanctuary of the Black Madonna above the cliff top in Tindari, and having read about the myth of how it was created - the Madonna made a strip of sand to cushion the fall of a young child who fell from the cliff tops thus saving him- decided to explore it. We knew it was a walk from Oliveri (plenty of free street/car park parking) but unless you have small children, elderly or lots of beach paraphernalia in your group it’s really a very easy flat walk via the naturally occurring sea water lakes to the peninsula. When we went it was quite amazing as one side of the sand was rough and windy and deserted- fun, but not relaxing with 3 overly confident kids aged 10 to 13 - and the other side was quiet (as in noise compared to the crashing waves) calm and crystal clear - relaxing, even with kids! We were the only ones mad enough to set up their beach mats on the wild side! There are no facilities or shops here, which keeps the crowds away, even from the calm side, but a water ice-cream van was doing the rounds and you can get a return water taxi for 5 euros if you really can’t manage the 15-20 walk!
It’s called Spiaggia di Marinello and surrounding lakes are called Laghetti di Marinello. Have fun!

We drove 1 hr 45 mins from Catania spent 10 Euro on tolls and parked as close as anyone can get to the lakes. After a 20 minute walk from our car we finally arrived at the beach that had lots of trash and debris. I pulled a 4 foot long 2 x 4 with nails out of the water and huge piece of sheet plastic that floating around and put it next to the washed old shoe that was sitting on the beach. Cool scenery though other than that. I would say all in all it wasn’t worth the hike. Probably won’t go back.

We visited the area in September using public transport. We arrived at the Sanctuary of Tindari by bus and after looking around and taking some photos took the path down. The path is not difficult but you are likely to be more comfortable wearing trainers, not something to do with flipflops, it takes about 30/40 minutes. There are nice views going down although the beach is a lightish grey colour, not white as it seems in some photos...The path takes you to Oliveri and from there you just walk along the beach to get to the Laghetti. The area is large, the views are nice - a, sort of lunar landscape, and there weren't many people, so there is plenty of space. After, we took a local train back from Oliveri, but be careful because there aren't many trains... Definitely worth visiting if you're in the area but probably not the main trip of your holiday

This is a stunning spot. Unfortunately some of the Italian families who also enjoy this spot leave all their trash behind. It's outrageous. And sad. As the waters are clear and full of life. We couldnt turn a blind eye and found a plastic bag floating in the water and used it to pick up beer bottles and food wrappers.

Grazie a chi risponderà

Quanto costa il tragitto in barca x andare ai laghetti di Marinelli
Ditulis pada 10 Juli 2020
€6 a persona, andata e ritorno
Ma vi lascia alla punta di Marinello, non ai laghetti ovvero alla fine della Riserva Naturale.
I laghetti sono raggiungibili solo a piedi.
