We visited the chateau today as a family but with friends as well. We are holidaying locally and we wanted to visit a traditional French chateau. The tour was informative and provided a fantastic historical account of its owners and local French history. The group we were in comprised both English and French people and the tour guide did an amazing job speaking in both languages. She did a fantastic job and it meant we were able to be included in the tour and hear about its history. She was really knowledgeable and answered questions throughout the tour excellently. We really enjoyed our visit and have learnt some interesting historical facts!

We walked up to this chateau for something to do on an overcast day. As the tours were only being done in French and having limited knowledge of the language we opted to walk round the museum instead. This was small and although interesting, nothing major and only took us 30 minutes max.

We visited this chateau as a party of 8 (4 adults and 4 children 7-13 yrs)
We came away feeling very disappointed with the visit. The viewing of the chateau is done in groups with a guide. Your move about the house in this group and the time spent in rooms is set by them.
Our guide seamed very knowledgeable but due to the language barrier, if we wanted to translate or tell our kids anything that was being said, we would have needed to speak over the guide and interrupt the group. This made it difficult for the children to access any of the information or amazing history. It became hard to continue the tour and after 30 mins and we decided to leave before the tor was over and head to the museum.
This was a small but lovely space where we could look enjoy what was on offer.
We wanted to feed back to the staff that had we known the format of the visit was as such we would have decided not to come and maybe it would be good to make it clear on entry. It was a shame that our feedback was met with defensiveness
It was €54 that we didn’t feel was well spent. The chateau was tired looking and rundown compared to others we have seen in France. Maybe give this one a miss.

Wonderful antiquity property to visit. Good tour. Although in French, we were able to ask questions in English with expert explanations back in English. I highly recommend a visit.

Wonderful Chateau with great staff. Lots of history. Luckily we had a tour in English so really did get the most out of the visit. Thank you.

Visited during a family holiday and found it to be very interesting, steeped in history and beautiful architecture. We took a tour which took approx 1hr 30mins but was very informative and even kept the youngest of our family interested. The tour guide was great and spoke very good English. Gardens are nice to walk around and allow the younger children to burn some excess energy off before the tour. The chateau also has a well stocked shop with something for everyone and was ideal for gifts to take home. It also serves drinks and has a covered patio to sit under whilst waiting for your tour. Recommended if in the area and well worth a visit to add some culture to a family holiday.

The owner has done a marvellous job in the continuation of restoration of the ground floor rooms. Plenty to see and the guided tour took around one and a half hours. Group,size depends on arrivals, and ours was around 20 including 4 young children who also enjoyed their visit. If majority are French, then the tour will be in French, but with comprehensive notes provided to English. Worked very well.
The guide gave some commentary in English and welcomed questions.
Free parking. Adult entry 9.50 Euros. Gift shop and small museum.
Recommended.

We spent about an hour and a half enjoying this eclectic country manor house with an interior mostly salvaged from other houses, which made for a unique look with some interesting highlights. Enjoyable for a rainy afternoon, charming staff and a tour in english. Quite a few stairs and gravel, so not ideal for a wheelchair or pushchair, but the staff were very accommodating. Delighted to meet the owner and hear about some of the challenges of increasing the appeal with further development for visitors.

This small manor house is worth a visit if you are in the area, but doesn't have anything for children. We had a tour in french but had a folder with English translation; the tours are every half an hour, and you cannot visit on your own. There are rooms with interesting furniture, paintings etc.

This chateau is a bit out of the way but well worth the extra effort. The exterior is lovely. The inside was less sumptuous but there were a few gems. It's history goes back to 1580 when land was given to Rapin by Henri IV to build his house. Much resotration was carried out by Octave de Rochebrune. A lot of the architectural elements were taken from other chateaux.
The visit is only possible with a guide and, as far as we could tell, only in French. So it was a good listening comprehension exercise for us. Only the ground floor rooms were open to the public. We were not allowed to take photos because of theft. Perhaps thieves disguised themselves as visitors to case the joint. We saw photos of two valuable-looking clocks which were stolen a couple of years. Such a pity as I would have loved to take photos of the dining room ceiling and also the fabulous chimney.
