Great afternoon out in the Spanish Pyrenees

We were camping at Gavín with our four children aged 9-15 years. A great afternoon out in the rain. Easy walking and time to stop and savour the wildlife including the wolf, bears and lynx as well as a range of deer species. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Thank you. A national treasure.

Nice little park, lots of steep walking!

We enjoyed this park but my little boy found it too much to have to go back up to the top a second time!

Nice animal park - recommended visit if travelling by family

A well-situated animal park with plenty of space for the animals. Nice to visit with the children. You can well spend 2-3 hours walking around and spotting the animals. It's situated on a mountain with plenty of trees. Walking shoes and binoculars are recommended. Although there are two places where you can buy a drink in the park, carrying water with you on warm days is not a bad idea.

What's with the reindeer?

The park offers a great walk and good deal of exercise going up and down the slopes. The animals, with the exception of the wolves were easy to spot and observe. Personally, I would have preferred to see it limited to animals that live or lived in the Pyrenees, or at least that you can imagine could have lived there ... which is why I would not expect the reindeer.

Hilly walk around scenic countryside with plenty of animals and views.

A good few hours of well managed paths and fencing around animals with nice views. Parking difficult at peak times though lots of road-side to park up on if you don't mind a walk before your walk. a good family half-day out

Great animals, great views, great idea

What a great location high in the Spanish Pyrenees Mountains, with jagged peaks surrounding you in all directions. In this setting you can see an impressive range of native animals like deer, lynx, bison and bears. Each group of animals have a large enclosure to wander around and the trails through the forest are rewarding to experience. Highlights for the kids were watching a bear playing in his bath, seeing a lynx way up a tall tree, and also a goat climbing a tree! I will come back again.

Very good biological theme park in the Pyrenees

La cuniacha is a zoological park located in the forested slopes of a mountainous area near the small town of Piedrafita, in the Pyrennes of the Huesca province of Spain. The visit is conceived as a hike uphill on foot through the beautiful woods until you reach the highest point, and then return downhill to the entrance again by a different path. During the hike you encounter the animals within their enclosures. Some of them are accessible and so you may get to see deer and mountain goats in semi freedom next to you. They also have bear, bison, lynx, wild horses and other european mountain fauna. Very recommendable to combine a zoo visit with a mountain hike. The food and drink facilities are not to be praised, better to carry your own food and eat it in a very pleasant open dining area watching the animals.
