Warm welcome with great tour and wines!

This tour exceded all our expectations! Our guide Vicente talked very interestingly and was very friendly and the wine taskig was also great! We took premium tour (tour+5 wines+local hams and cheeses+a small gift) for 15 euros. The hosts were very welcoming and it was more than worth it. I recommend it!

Very informative and interesting, amazing wine

This was truly an amazing experience. Ana was full of enthusiasm and had so much interesting information to share with us about the history of the caves and the grapes. Who would have thought such amazing caves were man made by the Muslims and later they would we used to store wine in these amazing clay pots called tinajas. The grapes that are grown in Requena, the bobal grapes are very hard to make into wine. The Murviedro wine is simply amazing. So much care and attention can be tasted in every sip. We bought lots of wine to take home with us but Ana also gifted us with wine glasses and extra bottles of wine. A true gem of an experience.

A sparkling secret

Lovely stop on our way to Madrid. The modern upstairs contrasts vividly with the historic hand dug cellars and artefacts. The tour with Patricia was highly informative and interesting. Her English is very good and easy to understand. She answered all of our questions and suggested she take a group photo of us, which is a great momento. In addition to the wine tasting we were given the gift of wine glasses and a bottle of delicious red wine to take home. 😊 Our sat nav had difficulty finding the square where we should have parked and we had to reverse out of a teeny tiny passage only wide enough for pedestrians or a bike. 😬 The cellars are not really suitable for little kids or very tall people.

Winetasting with history

Visited this incredible winery after reading such lovely reviews. We had booked to go on a Monday, but as other tourist places are closed on a Monday, they happily changed it to the Tuesday.
We arrived in a lovely cobbled Spanish square and were amazed to see this building, with glass doors and very modern interior. For a mere €6 each we were given 2 bottles of red wine (one per person!) plus tasting wines throughout the tour.
The lovely Patrizia (I think that’s her name) greeted us and was able to speak good English throughout.
The tour lasted approx 35/40 mins and there was just the 2 of us.
There are steps into the cave and underfloor lighting throughout the beautifully kept caves.
We were given a taster wine in the cave, then walked back up the stairs to the ground floor and then up a further 2 floors on a beautiful rusted iron staircase, were we found the shop.
We were able to taste a few more wines and happily bought a Cava and another bottle of Red!
I would certainly recommend this winery and plan to take my parents there in September.

Fantastic tour and wine degustation!

We really enjoyed cellar (cave) tour. Ana our tour guide was fantastic. Wine degustation is included in the entry ticket thus, it is very good value for money. Highly recommended for any one visiting Requena.

Exceeded expectations. Fantastic visit and tour, in English, from Ines Carcel of Murviedro

We visited the Murviedro museum and caves on Sunday 4th March 2018, having seen it advertised on their facebook page, and booked in via email. It's located in Requena, a little less than an hour by car, from Valencia city centre. It's located in a beautiful cobbled square, surrounded by a hotel and some restaurants. Very quaint and typically Spanish. We were a little early for our tour so we had a coffee in the hotel - again a warm welcome and lovely cup of coffee! The entrance to Murviedro was 6euros per person, and this included a bottle of wine to take away, so seemed more than reasonable. We were met with a warm welcome by Ana and Ines, and having requested an English language tour ahead of our arrival, the tour turned out to be just for us (4 adults). Ines conducted our tour and told us a little about the history of winemaking in the area, and by Murviedro, and led us through the caves. We tried an "unfinished" red wine in the caves, followed by a finished one in the shop at the end, about an hour later. We were under no pressure to purchase anything but were all keen to, and came away with a selection of red wine and fizz, having already been more familiar with their Verdejo white wince, which is also lovely. Thank you to Ana and Ines, but especially to Ines, for our English tour. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would really recommend it to others.
