A stunning sight

This dam is a sight to behold. We parked the car and walked across it to look down on the water pouring out below. The view down the valley is superb. It really is worth seeing.
The other side you are looking at the calm reservoir which goes quite a way up. Very peaceful.

Stunning, well worth a visit. The views are amazing even on a cloudy day. The road to the dam passes through some beautiful scenery

No water flowing over when I was there, but spectacular to see all the same, one of the ones you can drive or walk over to get that perfect picture.

What a feat of engineering this dam is. Unfortunately the water was extremely low so it wasn't cascading over the top. Which was a shame. It was still magnificent all the same. Well worth a visit.

Stunning Victorian engineering.

You can just stand and marvel at the construction, before poured concrete was the material of the day this dam was constructed by stonemasons who chipped and dressed every stone to fit perfectly. The water from the reservoirs supplies Birmingham and area with water, The water travels by gravity alone, taking it three days to get there. The engineering is stunning. Worth a visit.

Amazed by the history

This is a great monument to how the Victorians changed Birmingham for the better. The engineering and build is an everlasting memory of what that era achieved.
