Excellent 20 minute tour describing the evolution of salt production. For separate fee you can walk out to the salt flats, as well. Part of a nature reserve, they are many species of birds in the area. Pink flamingos everywhere.

Fantastic find. Discovered the history of Sicilian salt & its value.
€4 entrance was great value, with the in-depth knowledge passed on.
Still a family run business.
Allow about 2 hours including a coffee and snack at the end.

Easy to find it. A piece of salt history. A nice guided tour included. Recomand a little walk outside to see flamingo. You can buy little gifts from there.

There are two options and both times i was steered here. Lovely little english tour with lots of information about salt production, why this area is good for it. How long it has been in the making and how it is harvested. Not a long tour. Worth it to stop. 5 euros with a little gift shop that you can buy salt!!

Small, but great little Museum. Helena gave us a guided tour and was excellent at explaining in detail this ancient skill. Would recommend visiting

Interesting museum of the ancient tradition of salt production. The friendly and informative guides, important to understand why so many times the salt that is sold to us in supermarkets is a great farce.

The tiny Salt Museum at the Trapani salt flats is enchanting. It's not really a museum - more a beautifully set-out account of the way that salt is traditionally made here to this day, with an excellent short video and a small number of very interesting items of equipment. It's in a salt mill, so you can see the machinery/grindstones, and excellent info boards accompany the shovels, archimedes screws etc. It overlooks the salt pools and you can see the people shovelling up the salt into piles as they've done for centuries. And it's right beside the ferry motorboat to Mozia and an excellent cafe/restaurant (Mamma Caura, which is usefully on satnav systems so a good way of navigating here). I wasn't on a guided tour, but the information in the museum is first-class so I had all the info that I wanted.

Small but excellent museum, housed in a picturesque old salt mill. The guide, Alicia, speaks perfect English and explains the process of removing and drying the salt very clearly.

You can climb up onto the roof to see the sails close-up, and for stunning views of the surrounding salt pans with sparkly white cone-shaped piles of salt. The museum is located inside a WWF nature reserve, and you can pay a small fee to walk around the area. Salt is for sale, with flavourings like lemon and thyme. You can also see lots of bird life in the basins, including flamingoes.

Family run salt harvesting business and museum. Admission to the museum includes a tour. The guide explains the process, tools, history and evolution of the industry. And it was really interesting! One son runs the museum, and if he is your tour guide you get to hear him sing worker songs. Great experience in a low key environment.
