It's a fairly small place and I can't imagine spending more than an hour here. It is pretty interesting though - the snowflake photos were beautiful (more exciting than it sounds...) The highlight was the melting ice under a microscope experiment one of the staff did...I had no idea what went on inside ice as it melted...it was stunningly beautiful. Aside from that though, it really is a small museum dedicated to one man studying in a very specific field so...yeah. Also be aware that everything is in Japanese.

This place is great but without a Japanese guide or being fluent in Japanese you're going to have a lot of limitations. There are a couple of things in English, there is a small English pamphlet, the main introductory movie has English subtitles. Most labels have a title in English but the description on the label is not in English and there are a lot of labels explaining all the science and history behind all the objects. And that the live demonstration is only in Japanese. But the space is beautiful and the café on the lake is lovely and there are some beautiful visuals to take in even if you can't understand any Japanese
