We visited the village on July 2. There is free parking to the side. In the building where you pay the entrance fee is a short film and some explanation about the immigrants and the First Nations.
In each building there is a person in late 19th century clothing who can give you some information about the building and its owners. You can ask questions that they will try to answer.
We can recommend to visit this museum.

Some buildings had guides, the rest had sign boards. We toured the entire village and listened to all the guides within 2 hours.
It had the usual buildings included in a Pioneer village but unique to this site.
We enjoyed our visit and just avoided the rain.

I always admire of our ancestors,who could built new towns and villages from scratch. This "museum" is a excellent illustration of ordinary life people in XVIII-XIX centuries. If you are lucky,maybe you would attend the ceremony of "old style" wedding. Definitely this is brilliant pace ! You must go. Enjoy ! Thanks a lot of all volunteers and organizers.

We came to see the village for the first time all the way from GTA at around 2:05 pm. On the website, there was an announcement that today it is open until 4:00 pm. No information about attendance allowed only with the tour. Just in front of us, one family started the last tour and we were not allowed to join it! So the information was misleading. We wasted our Sunday for Nothing! The big disappointment of such bad customer service.
Now a museum employee will come here and talk about care. Aha! My family just lost their care. COVID will end someday

Fun guided tour with lots of information to help you imagine the life of a pioneer. You see a school house, general store, blacksmith shop, etc. You also see the progression of a home as pioneers raised families and communities started to grow - after people were able to survive the winters.

I had been to visit the village this past summer, for the first time. During my visit, one of the interpreters had suggested coming back for the Christmas event; so, I did. It was well worth the nippy weather! The visit far surpassed any expectation! The Village was spectacular at night. From the horse wagon rides, to warming ourselves by the outdoor fire...to all of the visits inside...sampling goodies of the day and hearing stories...told by the most incredible interpreters you will ever meet. Lots of goodies being sold if you were in the market for some very unique Christmas gifts (or...perhaps a little something for yourself). All in all, one of the top 'Pioneer Villages' we have ever been to. Check out their website for 2020 events. I know the car show, the steam show and the Hallowe'en walk are already marked on the calendar! Truly a step back in time. A piece of history that everyone should partake of. The heritage...the stories...the peace of just strolling the streets of the past. Leave the hustle and the bustle behind...

We made the 2 1/2 hour drive and was well worth he visit. Staff were very friendly and eager to share their wisdom and knowledge of each exhibit we saw. After visiting the village we were able to wander through the grist mill at the other end of the property. Our guide was absolutely wonderful and showed us all the nooks and crannies of the mill. Definitely worth the drive and will visit again

Lang Pioneer Village is a great collection of historical buildings mostly from the 19th century. The buildings range from small dwellings to public offices, shop, church, printers, hotel, weavers, school, and several agricultural barns and sheds containing tools, machinery and vehicles. The guides (in costume) are all knowledgeable, enthusiastic and friendly. The layout has been extremely well planned with no building too far from the next, and many fully furnished and decorated with artifacts of the period. The shop, in particular, is an incredible array of items, all placed on several shelves, some up high, and others low down and spilling out onto the floor. This village is a treat for anyone interested in social history. Allow three hours (at least), and do not forget to visit the grist mill, located slightly further from the main village. There is also a children's play area, and ample parking, and the entrance fees are all very reasonably priced. A must see venue in the Peterborough area.
The pretty village of Keene is nearby, and Hastings is also of interest, at the edge of Rice Lake, with a lock and small cafes.

I was on a four day Rover Scout weekend reunion in Hastings, Ontario when I decided to check this rural village museum out. It is a self guided tour and with a map in hand it will take you to well kept buildings. Summer hired college/university students and volunteers are very knowledgeable and personal when you have interacts with them.They are very passionate in what they are doing here and certainly chosen because care by working here. There was a bus tour in from Guelph, Ontario and people visiting from different parts of Ontario.There is a small reception area in which you pay a modest entrance fee and small store to buy books, etc. Overall an excellent museum and they have certainly done their homework and research to persent the correct facts of a by gone time here in Ontario.
