A FREE-ENTRY VISIT TO THE MANCHEGO CHEESE HOUSE
Mar 2018 • Teman
As a couple of friends from Cieza had come to Manzanares, we decided to pick them up in order to visit the Manchego Cheese Museum. It’s said it’d be an excellent choice even if the day were chilly or dull. Although it might not seen a very big building, you can spend one or two hours to explore it.
An ancient house, which used to be a pharmacy, has been improved to accommodate this exposition about cheese, its production and how it’s connected with the economy of the area. Besides, there´s another recently opened exhibition on the second floor related to a bullfighter dead in Manzanares and his relationships with poets of the Twentieth Century.
However, the walk around the museum watching tools would have resulted more helpful if the letters of the posters had been big enough to be read.
To be honest, I’d recommend not missing the chance to stop there because of the free entry. Nevertheless, you should arrange a tasting experience, which costs 2.5€, to try different kinds of manchego cheese so that you could train your knowledge.

The museum takes about 20-30 minutes to walk through, depending on how long you take to read the signs. It's highly educational and designed in a fun way.

The museum itself is free, but you can pay a minimal amount to try cheese and wine after you walk through the museum. Well worth our time on a sweltering afternoon!

This museum is tastefully appointed and the art work lovely. The history is interesting and films well done. Unfortunately I do not speak Spanish and it would have been nice to have sub titles available or tapes.
Thank you for a lovely experience

Lovely little town and great and strange cheese museo
Des 2016
why did I go to Mananares? To list the cheese muse of course! it is the only on in the world, according to the leaflet it is supported by the majego cheese farmers, a sheep cheese which comes hightail recommended. The entrance is free but for 1 euro you can get to sample the cheese and have a glass of wine. Best 1 euro I have ever spent. There are no English explanations but you get to understand the process and the sheep herds are not to far away. It will only take about 30-40 minutes to do the museum so there is no chance of being bored. The tiles are brilliant as well.

It is not just a cheese museum, but a cultural experience. The cheese exhibits are interesting (better if you can read the Spanish descriptions [the English descriptions are limited]), but the art displays are nice, and don't forget to pay attention to the stately residence that I houses this museum. Schedule/reserve a tasting for the full experience?

A lovely little museum
Mar 2016 • Keluarga
This is housed in a refurbished town house and is an excellent museum. Helps if you can read a bit of Spanish as although there are English translations they are a bit dodgy. Gives the history of how Manchego sheep cheese was made in the past and how it is made today. You get a chance to taste some different types of Manchego cheese and we found it most interesting. There are also some display galleries with travelling exhibitions in them.
It is fully wheelchair accessible.

Check the times that it is open . Like all Spanish museums it is closed on Mondays and open 12 until 2 and then 4 until 8 in the winter. Times are shown on line. Entry is free and it is 1 euro for the cheese tasting. We had a great time.
