To see this triangular windmill that rotates on an ax, who is located on an elevation in the village of Avecasta, you have to follow the signs who are leading you uphill by a dirt road, and also a few meters away, there is the cave, an archaeological site with vestiges of occupation from the Paleolithic era, but closed for the public!. In the year 2013, the Avecasta cave was classified as a site of public interest. The existing windmill is one of three old windmills who is preserved, it is a revolving structure built in wood, with a hexagonal plan, which moves, at the whim of the wind, over a circular path made of flagstones. From time to time, the miller still climbs the Avecasta hill and, with the help of wind energy, there flour the cereal.

Lovely to sit at the top of on a warm summer's day and eat a picnic. There are also walks around the windmill.

You have to drive to the small village called “Avecasta”. When arriving on a small white chapel located on the right hand side of the narrow road, you will see the indication sign for the “Moinho de Vento” & “Gruta”, this is a narrow dirt road, so drive very slow and carefully. Follow this dirt road for a while and you will arrive on a bifurcation, here turn to your left and uphill in the direction of a “Look Alike of a three” who is just a “Trap” because it is a steel Antenna. And so you arrive on the top to the “Triangular Windmill” who can be turned into the direction of the wind, this thanks to the wooden wheels on the base corners, so he could turn at almost with any wind direction.

After you have made your stop on the windmill, return to the bifurcation and turn left downhill for about 300 meters. Here you can turn and park the car without any problem. Here you can see the “Cave of Avecasta”, on our visit the entrance was closed, but the cave of Avecasta is an arqueoligic station, with signs from the Palaeolithic century, in the year 2013 the cave has been classified as location with public interests.

This mill was completely consumed by fire and no longer exists.
The natural mines nearby are padlocked and cannot be visited.
