This is a perfect, quick side trip on your travels. Worth the stop.

This is a National Park so bring your Pass. Ranger Station is very nice. The walk up to the ruins is very close by but is steep on some places. There are areas to sit. Bring water.

Incredible
Apr 2021 • Keluarga
We have visited this small national monument twice. It is easy to explore along nice walkways. They have an opening into a restored room and steep staircase to observation area. Both times we visited it was very windy so hang on to your hats! The views are incredible but take your time exploring the artifacts inside the ranger station. Lots of history about Native Americans throughout this part of the Southwest. The name Tuzigoot has an interesting history. We don’t really know much about the original inhabitants!

Might as well if you already paid for Montezuma Castle

Check it out if you're already in the area since it's included in the Montezuma Castle ticket. Overall it's an enjoyable 30 minutes of walking around and enjoying the weather.

Very nice ancient living site on a hilltop
Mar 2021
Very nice display of an ancient living site on a small hilltop. Very easy walk on paved walkways with a slight incline. Great views. Nice gift shop with restrooms. Good signage to explain the displays.

Friendly rangers
Feb 2021
The rangers are very friendly at Tuzigoot (as all National Parks) and it was interesting to see the Pueblo remains. The many national monuments in the Flagstaff/Sedona area is a great reason to get a national park annual pass. It will easily pay for itself, just in that area!

Tuzigoot also has picnic tables in the shade, so it’s a good lunch spot.

Beautiful and interesting!

Pretty neat to walk up the hill to the monument and then walk down the other side to the marsh overlook. Lots of readable informative signs. It was beautiful out and super easy to do while avoiding people.

Up close

For a small fee or with you park pass you can walk around and right up to the dwelling ruins. Path is a short walk up a slight hill. Well worth the stop.

An important cultural landmark
Des 2020
Tuzigoot National Monument is the site of hilltop pueblo just outside Cottonwood. It was a short trip from Sedona where we were staying for the week. Rely on your GPS to get there because there were little or no signs from the highway pointing the way there (which is odd considering the fact that this is a "national monument").
Access opens at 8AM each day and we got there shortly after 8 to avoid any crowds. It was nice not to have lines or a lot of people around to distract from the beauty of the place. Admission is $10/person, which you pay inside the interpretive center. The admission also entitles you to access to Montezuma Castle for the week, which is several miles away. The interpretive center has a number of exhibits explaining how the community came into being, how it grew in size, and the nature of the archeological artifacts found there. It was remarkable to discovery that Tuzigoot was a thriving community for 300 years (1000-1300AD), which is longer than the US has been in existence. We also purchased a few cool postcards, and thought about buying some t-shirts that were selling for 50% off in order to support the good work of the National Parks Service.
The ruins are a short walk from the parking lot. The views from the site are breathtaking. Unfortunately access to the top of the lookout were closed due to repair. This is truly a cultural gem and an important historical landmark of Arizona.
