This tour is amazing! Shelby, Marco, and DeVante are the best tour guides. We had so much fun from start to finish. They were extremely informed and taught us so much about all the wildlife we saw. The zodiac boat was so epic and felt so great to just be out on the water.

Sounds the a pelagic success! For the captains this tour is a little break from the norm, we get to go out a little on our snorkel tours but on a pelagic the offshore has no restrictions. We get to spend our whole time out in the blue looking for marine mammals and sea birds. Its just a nice tour for captains and guests, that want to get off shore to find things. Thank you for enjoying it as much as we do.

Amazing experience. Captain Rick, Liz and Jake were all extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. The boat ride out and back to the snorkeling spot was was beautiful and extremely fun for myself, my wife and our 2 boys (aged 8 & 10). We got to see Spinner dolphins and Bottle-nosed dolphins during the boat ride, an amazing bonus.
The snorkeling was beautiful and Captian Rick ensured we got there quickly and beat the other boats there so we would have more time snorkeling before more boats and people showed up.
Our whole family had a blast and we would highly recommend this experience to anyone!

Sandy was a great captain! I always felt safe with her at the helm. We were lucky to see quite a bit of whale activity and she was always ready to describe what was happening. And she welcomed questions.

So happy you got a great whale watch in this long season we are having here. We absolutely love that we have so many whale around still. This year has been so great for our guests and crew. We are sad they will be leaving soon but looking forward to what next season has in store for us!

It was a great day out on the water. We were told it would be rough, but I found it really a nice outing. The staff were attentive and friendly from the check in and throughout the day. Saw some whales thanks to the patients of our captain.
Best part of the day, hands down, the two petting dogs in the office. All business should follow this model.

We always go out on the Zodiac whalewatch tour with Captain Zodiac, and we are never disappointed. Very first tour a few whales swam so close to the boat we could have touched one. Then it swam under the boat! Another time we watched a mother, baby, and companion/guardian. Latest tour (our 8th in as many years) we got to follow 4 males on a “heat run” for a good while as they slapped their sectoral fins, dove, and breached repeatedly. Book it, don’t hesitate. February is ideal, but January-March all good.

February has been MAGICAL!! We are obsessed all over again and can't believe it comes to an end this month. We are just so sad that they are going to leave but with all the new babies next year is going to be EPIC also. We love how these whales are still recovering in numbers and can see the positive side of federal restrictions that are helping these whales thrive. Thank you for coming out with us so many times and we hope to keep seeing you.

Had a really nice time. Saw numerous whales, including one that swam under the zodiac and another that breached right in front of us. Overall, great whale watching. Probably the only thing that surprised me was no life vests. My wife is not a good swimmer and was a bit concerned. But it was also our fault for not asking for one.

Always ask, we never know peoples experience level when boarding the boat and on a whale watch we don't usually ask as we don't get in the water. We are always prepared to give out any type of floatation that might have made her feel more comfortable. Happy to hear you were able to have a fun time still and saw lots of whales on your whale watching tour.

Trip was amazing!! Not only did we see over 20 whales and 2 babies,we also saw spinner dolphins, ahi and a barracuda. To top it off, the sunset was beautiful. Ash and Shelbi were the best!!!!

They really are, we are lucky to have them. The sunset whale watches are a great addition to our tour line up every year and we really love having guests enjoy their time our with us. Mahalo for joining our whale watching adventure here in Kona.

Photos we see are with younger travelers. Would seniors be okay on one of the snorkeling excursions?

Limited mobility may be an issue when getting in and out of the boat. Depending upon the speed your travelers and captain want to go, it may be challenging. There are no seats, but rather sitting is on the sides of the rafts. Great fun at high speeds, but not if you have back problems.

We are trying to decide between exploring Na Pali coast sea caves or Kona sea caves. Seems like this trip is more about the snorkel vs. exploring the caves, waterfalls etc. Is that the case?

We have gone out with Captain Zodiak several times. The focus is on snorkeling, which is always one of the highlights of our trip. They do give you a peek into caves and lava tubes and talk a little about the history, but the boats do not/cannot go further than the mouth of the cave/tube. As for waterfalls, I do not recall seeing any from the boat. If you are interested in exploring lava tubes and caves, one option is unguided hiking opportunities inland. From the coastline, you may need to go with a diving service to explore tubes and caves.

While somewhat challenging they provide a ladder and a rope to help pull you up into the raft.Also JC and Zoltan were observant and helpful as to any extra assistance anyone needed .They would help with physical assistance by hand if the rope and ladder was not enough.

Two times a available for tour thru NCL website. Is morning better than the afternoon, or does time of day not make a difference. I am also concerned about getting in and out of the raft. Is it a difficult process?

Definitely morning. Winds are much calmer at that time. You’ll stay much drier while on the zodiak!

We were on an NCL cruise so I do not know. They picked us up at the dock. The excursion was excellent though. My daughter did it a second time a week later.
