Janna Levin brings some of the best scientific minds here to discuss the latest developments in genetics, medicine, physics, and robotics. Accessible from Manhattan by ferry with great barbecue just a few blocks away. Free, donations accepted. Science and Art meet here. A great place for a cerebral date.

Located in a repurposed factory building, it is a fabulous artists space.The main floor is a gallery and the upper 2 floors are artists studios. You can watch artists work or go on a Sunday and have the place virtually to yourself and take an art walk.

I enjoyed the show in the main space. It was a simple cones of light installation. I was a little annoyed because NYC is pricey and I specifically looked for free things to do this day and found this. Then I arrive and am strongly suggested to pay $10. I'd not have had any problem with $10 but the expectation of free makes $10 seem unfair. The space is interesting as is the garden.

I stumbled upon Pioneer Works on my recent visit to Red Hook after a recommendation. It is a mix of a large event space and a co-working space for artists, photographers, etc. They will let you wander around. They don't charge an admission, per se, but do ask for a donation. My favorite room was the 3D printer space. Cool stuff.

Enjoy the garden and the large gallery space in this unusual spot right across from the Ferry Terminal in Brooklyn. Exhibits change frequently and they have live music so check out the schedule. The red hook area is really dynamic. Enjoy a nice brunch beforehand at one of the many cool restaurants. Dustin Yellin's studio is right next door and we had the chance to see his amazing works as well.

Attended a wedding in which the majority of the facility was devoted to the function. Room where ceremony held a bit warm. Food and service were outstanding. Most of the art and statuary were not on display. Difficult to arrange transportation without Uber since location not conducive to roaming taxis.

Cool to bring kids during weekends to make them discover art and try new things.
