We had to visit here - this is where gay liberation began. We found it friendlier and more pleasant during the day than at night. Drinks are expensive but I don’t really blame them for capitalising on the fame of the place. They also sell a good range of commemorative T shirts. Apparently there is nothing left of the interior of the original bar where the riot took place (according to Wikipedia) but that shouldn’t detract from the history of the location. I was pleased to see that a museum is being created next door which should open in 2024. Also don’t miss the displays and statues in the park opposite.

Amazing, historic, great staff. I went to the top floor for a friend's event, which was amazing, and then hung out downstairs on the main floor afterwards. It's Stonewall. What more must I write?

Visit for the history, don’t bother stopping for a drink

The historical significance of the bar was the reason we visited but its reputation is badly let down by its current employees.

The menu can be found by scanning a QR code in little display frame on the tables - we worked this out later - our table didn’t have one when we were seated outside, leaving us without a clue about what was available. When the server came to take our order, they were unnecessarily abrupt/rude with us when we asked what they had. We saw the same server be similarly unpleasant to other customers but very friendly to people they obviously knew.

The worst service experience we had in New York on our entire trip!

Not what I’d expected…

I was excited to go to such a historic bar, and don’t get me wrong it it’s lovely. The rainbow lights are particularly atmospheric.

But… no prices anywhere. When I ask for a menu and then order the stone wall inn IPA ($8), I was told that it’s actually $12 now. 2 drink minimum per person for card payments. And you can’t take it outside to their tables. But at least the beer was good in the end.

Just a frustrating experience really. Disappointing when I was so looking forward to visiting the historic place.

I was so excited to come here, the place has amazing history for our community, only disappointment is the staff. Everything that lets the community down, self-indulgent gay men bar staff who are power mad… such a shame

Truly a great experience

Could not visit NYC without visiting this iconic place. Had a wonderful few hours in there, enjoying a fantastic atmosphere, great company, great service (from Christine) who looked after us royally. So welcoming and full of great vibes, loved every second. A wonderful experience. Thank you everyone we had a blast!!

Great visit to a historic site

We visited while the Inn was closed. The park is right across the street. You can down the TellBetter app for a audio walking tour. Around the corner is ‘Gay street’. There is a museum and store under construction- target to open at the 55 year anniversary in June 2024.

So cool to be drinking in such a historical bar. Went during the day and it wasn’t overly busy but still a good vibe and friendly customers and staff.

Iconic for the LBGQT community

Very good insight into the origins of the LBGQT community and the start of Gay Pride. Found the bar staff very welcoming but maybe it has become a bit 'touristy'. Still recommend a visit.

Stopped in for a beer during our holiday from the UK. The place is good and worth a visit for the history that is represents. The bar women was blatantly rude to me for no reason. I was nothing but polite whilst there just received sarcastic and rude comments whenever being served or asking for the bill.
