Like plants? Like bathrooms? Like huge bamboo groves? Want to see the rainbow eucalyptus? Trees that span the heavens. Flowers, stems, and trunks of all colors. Did I mention the bathrooms - first on our trip? It was raining some of the time which made it more special. An excellent stop for us and a highlight of The Road to Hana.

Lovely and interesting place to visit no matter the weather. Our visit was on a rainy day and we enjoyed it and we were so glad we made time for these gardens. It is a good way to see so the tropical forest without the muddy trails and road side pullouts that are crowded. Great views of a waterfall, the ocean and the valley. There is plenty to see and learn here and worth the price of admission. A cool drive made so much better!!!

Warning!!! This is a complete ripoff @ $20 per person with nothing special to see and do. There are much better locations with better scenery down the road to Hana including free admission arboretum. Don’t waste your precious time and money. Absolutely a must skip on your road to Hana!!!!

We were stuck waiting in a car at the entrance for 15 minutes only to learn that the garden costs $20/person at the very end! Definitely felt like a tourist trap. Would have been nice if they put their prices at the entrance.

This is a lovely garden with some stunning views of coast (where Jurassic Park had a scene) and a beautiful waterfall. It was $20 a person when we went. My recommendation here is to make this your last stop on the Hana Highway. I felt that everything we saw after that was repetetive and Hana itself a let down at the end. Go to the Garden of Eden and then turn around after there. I know many others will disagree and continue down the road.

We stopped at the Garden of Eden when we drove the road to Hana. We didn't know that is was a $20 per person entry fee until we got in there. Had we known we might have skipped it. There were a lot of pretty flowers and trees there, but if you drive down the road a few more miles there is an arboretum that you can go to for free and see a lot of the same things. There was a pretty view of the ocean. If you are trying to drive the whole road to Hana in one day I would probably skip this.

NOTHING here that you can't see in Maui for free. so why pay $20 per person (not per car, per person!). Then they try to scare you into buying their $10 insect repellent, charge an extra $1 if you want to use a credit card, charge you to feed their birds, hawk the owner's music CDs, etc.
Your time on Maui is precious and expensive. Skip this one.

We stopped in order to stretch our legs, eat a lunch we brought, use the restrooms, and enjoy the local plant life and views. I would recommend this as a great spot to stop on your trip to Hana. We even met the owner. He was dirtier than any laborer on site! That’s because he was out working too. He takes a lot of pride in his space and it’s easy to see that in the way it is maintained and organized. It’s taken him 30 years to cultivate what he’s built. We chatted and he was very generous with his time. Again, would recommend.

We visited the garden as our final spot on our Kaanapali -> Hana drive.
Didn't want to do the full drive especially given current weather conditions, so drove up to here from Kaanapali and turned back.
The drive was great with mostly sunny weather.
The garden itself was quite stunning. We reached about 2pm and spent a nice couple of hours walking around and enjoying the scenery and garden. Great photo spots obviously. Few visitors around, so quite covid-proof.
Had a great time, highly recommended as part of RTH if time/plan permits.

We spent about 45 minutes here as a stop on the Road to Hana. If you aren't pressed for time, you can easily spend a few hours here. The grounds arw beautifully kept and easy to maneuver with their map and plenty of signage. I liked that the plants themselves were labeled. The Keopuka Rock, large ficus and bamboo are some of the highlights for me. It's family friendly with real bathrooms. Plenty of areas to picnic. Cute duck pond where you can feed them. Peacocks roaming about. $20 per person for adults. I enjoyed my short time there, but would plan on spending up to an hour at least to fully enjoy all the spots on the map.

What are the hours for the wonderful gift shop?

Aloha,
The gift shop tries to align their business hours with the Garden's, however, they are a separate entity. Feel free to contact the gallery at their GMAIL address: gardengallery60 *Tripadvisor will not allow us to post their email address in full form.

Hi
You may not be able to go everywhere but you will be able to see a lot. There is handicap and senior parking next to the restroom.
You won t be able to get in the gift and art shop..
A lot will depend on the weight of the chair and the ability of the caretaker. If I was in a wheel chair
I would def return.

Hello. I'll be travelling with my 10 year old daughter. Is there enough there to keep kids interested? How long do you recommend allocating to get a decent (but not completely thorough tour)? Are the falls here any better than on the road to Hana? Thanks!

Aloha,
We recommend a minimum of an hour at our attraction. We have 26 acres, and 2.5 miles of walking trails to explore. A large portion of our plants are labeled, featuring an educational element to your visit with us. We provide you with a map upon entering, and you explore at your own leisure. We recommend bringing quarters for our duck food machines if your daughter has an interest in feeding peacocks and muscovy ducks out of her hands! Of course we are subjective with respect to our waterfalls! We offer exclusive vantage points of the valley featured in the opening scene of the film, Jurassic Park. The two waterfalls visible from our property are Upper and Lower Puohokamoa Falls (160+ ft).
We look forward to seeing you, and please don't hesitate with further questions.
Mahalo,

Are people allowed to touch the animals?
Garden-Management
Maui, HI
We really only have ducks and peacocks which eat out of your hand. Some are tame enough to pet. And then there is Dan D. Lion the garden friendly doggie. He loves to be petted and is extremely friendly.
What we don't appreciate is when kids chase the ducks and peacocks trying to touch them.
Mahalo for your interest in our facility.

How long did you spend at this arboretum? How long would you recommend allotting for this attraction on the road to Hana? We are planning a large group trip on the road to hana which takes a very long time, and we want to stop here but are concerned about scheduling.

Allow at least 30-45 minutes. Photographers and those choosing to picnic may wish to stay longer. Many of our visitors choose to go no further as some experience difficulty with the Hana Hwy.
Thank you for you interest and sorry about the delay in answering. Our internet was down due to several large windstorms. Groups of 10 or more may enter @ $10/person.
