Mauna Kea Tea garden experience encompasses the essence of the magic of tea and the tea experience ! As a certified Tea Master and educator , I was blown away by the beauty, nature and quality of the Tea ! The experience was truly mystical. We left feeling renewed refreshed and Zen! A must have experience for any Tea , Nature lover !

It was a wonderful couple of hours walking through the tea farm. The farm is sloped, I would not recommend for those with mobility issues. All others, don’t miss this hidden gem. It was a great learning experience capped off by a tranquil authentic tea ceremony. To be in this beautiful outdoor tea hut with a cool breeze sipping tea, zen. The tea is absolutely cultivated with love, I would compare this to any premium tea. I wish I could have bought more. I will enjoy every sip.

We loved this tour. We spent two+ hours walking the farm, talking tea and agriculture and enjoying the incredibly peaceful surroundings. We tasted wild berries, sucked the nectar out of ginger flowers, and gained a clear understanding of the tea plant and how it is farmed. It was such a joy to be away from the noise and bustle of day to day life. We concluded in the tea house where our host led us through a Japanese tea ceremony and served us two of their excellent teas. It was peaceful, relaxing and we loved it.
If this sounds amazing to you I can’t recommend it enough. If it sounds boring to you and you are wondering if you’d prefer jumping ATV’s off a cliff this probably isn’t for you.

So amazing…a lovely tour of the farm and our first tea ceremony. It was my 22 yo’s favorite part of our Big Island Hawaii trip!

My son and I enjoyed the tour and tea ceremony. Great visit for those that enjoy the art of tea. We were pleasantly surprised by the cooler weather and beautiful location - a bit off the grid but enjoyed it.

We had an excellent time at Mauna Kea Tea! The amount of information that Taka shared with us and the passion their whole family has for the work that they do is amazing and wonderful to experience. I highely recommend visiting the farm and guarantee you will learn something new!

This was a great experience for our whole family (4 total). The farm was beautiful. Our guide/owner (Taka) was informative and friendly. This is a family run business. You can feel the love they have for the land, tea making process and Japanese culture. We walked the grounds learning about the tea plants, we also got to sample some fruit fresh off their trees, experienced a Japanese tea ceremony, sampled 3 teas and met their adorable baby lamb. We did this for our daughter's 16th birthday. It was a memorable experience. We highly recommend this tour.

We visited Taka's farm on a beautiful October day. The bees were humming in the tea fields. After a slow walk around the farm, we ended up at the beautiful tea house, where Taka led us in a very meditative tea ceremony. It was great just to be in Taka's presence and borrow some of his mindfulness for a while. Highly recommended!

This was an awesome experience from end to end. The tour is led by the tea farm owner and during our time his young daughter joined us. She too was a joy to hear from. We learned so much about the process of growing tea, all the different varieties, and the other crops they had on property. We also got to visit with some of their sheep who help to clean up weeds, taste some of the fruit freshly picked, and experience a tea ceremony with great info on how to identify different varieties. Beautiful property, peaceful people, and an opportunity at the end to purchase some of their teas.

We booked a tour and tea experience and really enjoyed it. Taka took us around his property and explained how they farm. Afterwards, we enjoyed a tea ceremony performed by Taka. It is a very peaceful, calming experience. Thank you, Taka!

Is this wheel chair accessible? How much walking is involved in the tour?

It would be difficult to access all of the tea fields in a wheel chair because of grade. There is a path from the parking lot to the tasting room that would be accessible. You could see some of the tea plants but it would be difficult to get down to taste the leaves because it is a relatively steep grade.
