Temperatures probably need to be above 90 to want to get in but its one of the most clear clean rivers you will ever find.

This river is perfect. So clear that you can see the fish rise from the bottom to take your fly. There is a good current and it is cold in August. No trash and its pretty much catch and release. You will love it.

The Stehekin River is the clearest river I have ever seen. The color of the water changes from emerald green to gray to golden depending on the light in the sky. In the winter it is low enough for snow to gather on the rocks and even freeze along the edges of it has been below freezing long enough. It can also be a raging brown tempest in the spring during runoff time. It is a powerful sight, it is a peaceful sight. Just depends what time of year you are observing it.

You can't miss this beautiful mountain river. If you are hiking around Stehekin or off to climb a mountain, it's worth a moment to sit and meditate by a this river.

Beautiful river that has easy access from many areas near the road. We were there the end of September & there were many bright red Kokanee fish spawning. They are a land locked sockeye salmon. There are several campsite near by.

Mostly level with a few short climbs. A bit hard to find the trailhead ( find the airstrip, turn left to parallel it and go to the end). Variety of topograghy. Saw deer and LOTS of kokanee in the river.

If you like the outdoors & want to seriously get unplugged, this should be at the top of your list. It truly is a place where rivers, creeks & a crystal clear lake flows though tall old evergreens. Truly worth the effort getting here.

We wanted to hike the Agnes Gorge Trail. It's 11.1 miles from the Lodge to the trail head. We were ready to go at 10am. The Red Bus leaves at 11am and gets to the High Bridge (Agnes Gorge Trailhead) at noon. We were told to just hitchhike and someone would surely pick us up. More than a few cars passed us up, but they looked like they were loaded full of people and supplies from the Ferry. Finally a van from Stehekin Valley Ranch picked us up and took us to mile 9, we gave her a tip. We started walking the last 2 miles when the Red Bus overtook us and gave us a lift the last mile, another tip. It was an adventure. The Agnes Gorge Trail is great, but DON'T MISS THE TRAILHEAD, it's only about 30 yards past the Agnes Creek trailhead. We were talking and walked right past it. This is only important because it is 2.2 miles to the falls, that's 4.4 miles round trip and the last Red Bus leaves to go back to the Lodge at 3pm. You don't want to miss it. So we really had to hustle to get in and out by 3. The trail is in good shape with minimal elevation gain. We spotted some bear scat about 100 yards in but didn't see anything. The Falls are great and worth the hike.

We took the Red Bus once on the way to the falls then decided to walk & explore on the way back & all other trips. Glad we did. There are so many things to see. The view is always amazing.
