We visited this museum for the third time. This summer 2020 there were great exhibitions of the painters Ferdinand Hodler en Albert Anker. To my surprise I discovered the antique car collection in the basement. Cars from 1898 till 1935. Mostly all cars in driving condition. I was informed that all the cars are from different private owners who can garage their car for free at Gianadda.

The foundation is fantastic with an extensive collection. We visited during the Swiss masters expo. The sculpture garden was truly wonderful with works by Henry Moore, Rodin and many others.

The Foundation founded by Léonard Gianadda in memory of his younger brother Pierre, who was killed in an airplane crash in 1976.
His dedication to cultural heritage has been a major contributor to the transformation of Martigny into a world renowned cultural centre in Switzerland.
Presentation of the collection of Christoph Blocher, which includes Swiss paintings from the 19th and early 20th centuries by Albert Anker and Ferdinand Hodler. Anker a Swiss painter and illustrator who has been called the national painter of Switzerland with popular depictions of 19th-century Swiss village life.
Ferdinand Hodler was one of the best-known Swiss painters of the nineteenth century with portraits and landscapes.
Also liked the permanent automobile and Gallo-Roman exhibition. Well done Léonard!

Very nice Rodin-Giacometti exhibition at the Gianadda Foundation. Magnificent scultures and description of movements. Also located 10 minutes away, we loved to sleep at the mARTigny boutique hotel (which Mr.Gianadda is one of the donator by the way), a very good address! The area is beautiful with excellent tables like the famous : the Relais du Mont d'Orge by Bernard Ricou! In final a great week end.

We visit the Fondation Pierre Gianadda several times a year whenever they have an exhibition we want to see. The most recent visit was for the current exhibition Rodin-Giacometti. The first thing for us, in its favour, is that it is relatively small and so no exhibition can be too big nor take too long to view. Secondly, behind the exhibition building is a garden full of scultpures and with both an excellent picnic area and a simple open air restaurant. Léonard Gianadda, the founder, is extremely well connected in the art world so the exhibitions he is able to mount always include excellent works. Highly recommended.

We went in late afternoon for a visit to this splendid museum with a large sculpture garden, ending with a beer in the small cafe in the garden. A wonderful place to enjoy.

We ate at the outdoor cafe in the sculpture garden. The food was okay and I was able to get tuna at the salad bar - a plus for me. The sculpture garden is magnificent and the trees and wildlife are wonderful. There are many famous sculptures and some lesser known with good signage of artist. Inside was a special exhibit of Rodin and Giacometti side by side. An interesting juxtaposition. There’s a lot of Roman ruins on the property and exhibits inside. I highly recommend! We drove from Chamonix France to Martigny Switzerland. Worth it!
