Moderate 25-30 minute hike to see this ruin. Its close up and you can see a lot without needing 4 wheel drive

You can drive down this dead end road and park your car and see the ruins from there. Or you can go down some steps to get a slightly closer look.

You'll be rewarded by a terrific view of ancient cliff dwellings if you make the short 1 mile hike. Follow the trail markings, and you'll come to the edge of the cliff (yes, there's a railing!) where you can see several ancient ruins. Best if you bring binoculars.

Due to lack of funding and politics, it was hard to get direction or information to these places of interest. Armed with our online research and wrongly guided by a pre signage on SR 95, we thought that was Butler Wash Ruins. This trail in a wash ran alongside a huge sandstone rock/cliff and it was thick with tall grass and cottonwood trees, and mosquitos accompanied us on our two mile walk. After a mile in, we decided to quit and drive further north to check for more signs. We were lucky to find one near Mile Marker 3. The hike was accessed from the parking area and was paved. The trail wound its way across some small washes and over slickrock before reaching an overlook of a cliff dwelling, half mile across the canyon. Finding a trail across solid rock can be a challenge and is a skill to develop as you learn to hike in canyon country. On most well-used trails, smaller-sized rocks are carefully piled into a vertical tower to mark the trail. The round trip hiking distance is one and a half miles. These dwelling is located on the Southwest of Blanding. Although the ruin has not been restored, the area is partially developed with an overlook across the deep canyon to view the dwellings.

If you are in SE Utah, this is a must; the ruin is easily accessible from the main road and is in very good condition.

We were driving from West to East, & almost missed this. No sign.
There is a sign if you're driving from East to West. The parking lot is large & there were about 5 cars there when we arrived. There's a pit toilet & an information board.

The hike is 1 mile there & back. I would say a moderate hike, due to the slickrock scramble the last 300 feet. Until then, easy.

I liked the ruins. They are clearly visible, but you can't hike to them. There's also benches if you need a break.

Clear path with cairns over the slickrock portion leads to a very nice cliff dwelling. The road to the site is paved. Earlier in the day is best because the sun is in your eyes in the afternoon

This is a short 1 mile hike out and back. You get to see cliff dwellings from a distance. The hike is pretty but is ok if you missed it. This is a fee area.

It's an easy walk to the ruins, but you can only view them from afar. However, it's also fun to just head uphill all the way to the top of the Comb and get a great view of the area beyond.

It's a short hike from the parking lot to the viewpoint of the ruins. It is well worth the trip. You don't get to climb in the ruins, but you get a good view. Bring binoculars
