“Needs work”

Cut of grass ,hi ,low ,chunks of grass in front of the greens .Ground under repair at many holes . Then no hot dogs ready at the turn , brought us Hot dogs 3 holes later.

Nicely designed club with an awesome South Carolina mountain backdrop. Many beautiful views of the surrounding region. Skills are always tested here with a variety of shots and clubs used. There are some challenging holes but Cherokee Valley is a fair and playable course that will appeal to many different skill levels. The practice facility includes a driving range and putting green. Also, there is a sand bunker for chipping practice. The restaurant is new and is now open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Food is very good. Overall, this reasonably priced course provides a good day of golf for players at all levels.

Always good to play at Cherokee Valley

Need more employees for what they charge.

Great layout. Although they’re holding back on a few things. 1. A ranger! 4 groups on # 7 yesterday. 2. Water, vendor cart on course. 3. Vending in clubhouse, they only had drinks. 4. They’re charging greens fees like a mid to high end course, but running it like a low end course. Cart boy said there was just him and the person taking the greens fees working on Sunday. 5. Cut your tboxes. Will play again with hope they perform services of a course of its stature.

Must play a second time

When I entered my score that day, I think I cried some! But really the front 9 is friendly. The back nine has a different play. Beautiful course. One I want to play again. I am thinking of the next trip here...stay at the cottages...dine at Core450. Friendly staff. Course was in good shape coming out of winter.

Great golf experience but no visible Covid prevention in place.

The golf course is great. Always enjoy playing there. Unfortunately, no one was wearing a mask. We felt like aliens being the only ones wearing them. It made us wonder if they paid any attention to disinfecting the brand new awesome golf carts. We'll stay away for the foreseeable future.

I have to say this!

I have to respond to the gentleman that said this course is tricked up. This course only has two blind shots Tee shot on 16 and the layup on 18. The greens are fast so if you don’t like fast undulating greens where all pin placements are tough. Go some where you like the greens slow flat and boring. If you like a course that’s in great shape and a challenge you won’t find anything better in a fantastic price range. We stayed at the stay and play facility’s and you will pay 3 times the price at any other comparable facility. And that’s just the facts. If you don’t enjoy golf here............QUIT!

Tricked up course

With all the blind holes, hard turf, ridiculous fast greens, with poor pin placement on undulating greens, I found it a poor golf course and very frustrating. Do not recommend.

Third year in a row that we played here while on a golf package to Greenville, SC.

Personally, I love this course. A few of my group have opposite feelings. If you are having an "off" day I suggest you avoid this course as it will eat you up. However if you shoot well on this course you have accomplished something. The only weird thing about this course is you play 11 holes before you get back to the clubhouse.

Great course but very challenging.

This course not only challenges you to hit the ball where you want to but also your stamina as there are a lot of steep climbs in places. The new owner change the way you play the course and it seems somewhat weird. On the first hole the starter said to try either hole #17 or #8 depending on your software and you will be fine, however you do not come near the clubhouse for 11 holes and even then you are not right by the clubhouse. This has to hurt sales at the turn. Hole #12 is old number #1. I will say the new owner takes ownership of his course as when we played our extra 18 holes he was pressure washing the mud off the rock frontage of a newly made tee box.

Beware Your GPS May Not Work

Among the most challenging tracks in the Upstate, this 6700 yard, par 72, course offers beautiful vistas and multiple elevation changes. With Bermuda rough so deep and thick you can easily lose your ball just off the fairway, this is not a “grab a six pack from the clubhouse and head out hacking” kind of experience.Adding to the difficulty was that the course was significantly over-watered with unplayable lies at several spots in our front nine. Surprisingly, we were able to still have carts out in these fairways. You should be aware that they have recently changed the hole numbering, rendering the GPS rangefinder useless. The cart staff suggested making #12 be #1 for the GPS as we made the turn, but even that didn’t help for my Garmin device. The staff said most of the GPS’s didn’t track here. Laser devices will also have a tough time on a few blind shots. 30 minutes from Greenville and 19 from TR, try this one only if you enjoy the punishment. Greens nearly healed from aeration.
