“Location has changed”

The museum building remains closed while preparations are made to move to town. However, tours for groups of 10 or more, and special events provide available viewing of selective and remarkable works on display in varied locations. Reservations are necessary, but easily arranged. I look forward to once again viewing their unique collection of sacred art when their own building opens in downtown Greenville which is growing, thriving, and among the best places to live and visit in the USA.

Have visited many times and sorry it is leaving University premises but downtown it will probably get many more visitors. The old museum building will either be repurposed or torn down as it is one of the oldest buildings on campus - it was the dining common before it was the museum.

I insisted my husband take a detour through Greenville to see the BJU collection which I had viewed two years earlier. Due to repurposing the museum building, and a loose commitment to open the full collection in the future, only a few pieces can be viewed. Should you be passing through Greenville, ask to see the few collection pieces that are on exhibit (in the chapel, in the library and Fine Arts building.). These are amazing as stand alone collections, however, the enormity of the whole collection and the size of many of the pieces of the stored collection are not open to the public at present. A big disappoint for those who have once glimpsed the magnificent collection.

We were really looking forward to the Wyeth. Unfortunately, the museum is still closed for repairs. We were unable to find out when it might be reopening.

Finest religious art collection I have ever seen

The Bob Jones Gallery is somewhat of an oddity....it is part of a deeply conservative Christian school but this museum may as well be ay the Vatican. The collection spans almost the totality of Medieval and Renaissance religious art which is undoubtedly Catholic in origin. The galleries are exceptionally well laid out, the presentations fabulous. The only draw back is that many of the student docents, while friendly, pleasant young folks are not necessarily up to speed on the history or sometimes the actual subject matter of the works. Never mind that! The museum is a fabulous experience and is one of Greenville's greatest attraction. Warning, it is really a place for adults. While not unwelcome, it would be the rare child who supports an interest in this type of art work.

The museum has an amazing art collection, but it has been closed for an indefinite amount of time pending relocation to a new facility. Some of the collection in on display at various locations around campus or at other art museums; see the museum website for details. The Benjamin West collection in particular is worth seeing on campus.

Largest Collection of Religious Art Outside the Vatican--And You Can See It!

We heard the religious art museum at Bob Jones University is the largest collection of religous art outside the Vatican, and that's probably true. Having toured the Vatican collections, the art at Bob Jones is actually easier to see than in the Vatican. You don't want to miss this. From magnificent stained glass to medieval religious artifacts, this museum is fascinating and then some. Well worth the small donation to view. This museum was referred to us by word of mouth, we didn't see any promotional materials for it at the hotel or billboards, etc. It's an awesome experience highly recommended!

Fantastic art. Great staff. Peaceful atmosphere

I'm not personally an art lover, so was surprised when I visited this place and found myself really taken with the whole experience. Maybe it was due in part to the quiet peaceful atmosphere, but I really enjoyed several of the pieces and felt that I could have spent more time here.
