This museum is ok among Children’s Museums! It’s definitely geared toward younger children! My 5 year olds enjoyed it but my older son was not impressed.

We’ve been going here since my kids were very young. It’s a great way to escape the heat/cold/rain and have some educational fun at the same time.
There’s a small toddler area on the 1st floor, but for younger kids the spartanburg location is better.
We could easily spend several hours here, and with special programming that changes no 2 visits have to be identical.

We try to bring our children to local children's museums when traveling. This one ranked at the bottom of the ones we have been to. They all usually share the same elements: a grocery store, some cars with automated driving simulators, the light Lucite rod peg wall, a rolling ball/coin area. This museum had two different activities, the music room and put put golf. A few activities were broken and out of order. The water element room was kind of silly, the other ones we have been to, you can use boards to create flow or inhibit water flow, in this water exhibit, the Green Toys boats could not even float with the standard current... my kids were sorely disappointed. Also, a lot of the building/construction areas were standard blocks and plastic connection pieces that we have at home. There was NO museum staff throughout the museum anywhere to assist with anything, just lots of patrons. My kids liked the outdoor playground (could have gone to a local park instead of spending close to $40). Overall, I think that they need to actually maintain the exhibits and potentially view other children's museums for other activities that are engaging and don't break.

We went a couple years ago and some things appear to have been neglected and are in need of repair but still enjoyed our educational and fun visit.

This is centerpiece of things to do for families with young children. We visited it with our 4 yr old and 2 yr old grandchildren and immediately bought annual passes. All kinds of interactive and educational displays and activities which excite and involve children.

We've been bringing the grandchildren here for the last 6 years. As they get older, the items that interest them that are actually working have dwindled. The visit today - the race car didn't work, one side of the shuttle landing didn't work and the other side was occupied by adults, the tic-tac-toe didn't work, the Channel 7 studio didn't work, the Duke lighting exhibit didn't work. All the things the two grands head for when visiting. The playground is great, the water section intrigued them when they were younger. The rotating exhibit didn't seem to interest many this year. Before I ever spend the money again, I will call and ask specifically what is broken and what is working

Great venue for children. Plenty of fun and challenges for children. Hey, fun is not limited to children. Adults will enjoy the visit as well. Very interesting and well worth the visit.

My 5 year old really enjoyed his time there. You can easily spend a few hours there enjoying all of the different activities. A must for families with small children!

Came here with a 3 year and 2 1 year olds and they thoroughly enjoyed it. Felt it was a little pricey, but had about 90 min-2 hours worth of enjoyment. Very interactive, probably geared more towards kids 5 and under. My kids enjoyed the wind tunnel, water tables, playing the various musical instruments, farm exhibit and grocery store (and oddly enough, the toothbrushing exhibit), the rest didn't really do much for them.
They also had a good play area both indoors and outside, but we didn't do it due to time constraints. Would definitely recommend coming here.

Every child, no matter their age, is different. With my 5 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild, I have found they each found one specific area they kept gravitating to and wanted to stay for hours. I learned it is easier to plan for several hours and adjust according to the child. Enjoy!

I was told there wasn’t a place to eat inside the Museum. I was directed by the Museum staff to the Library Cafe a block away, which was very disappointing. The Cafe had a very limited menu and was very expensive.

The free downtown trolley also goes by the museum. It is located in Heritage Green where you can also find other museums and the downtown Hughes Main Library - all have activities for kids.

If you come to Greenville often, there is also a family membership for $150 annually that offers UNLIMITED VISITS. The museum is a non-profit so this can also be a charity deduction on your taxes and a great way to support the local arts and this wonderful facility that supports STEM activities for children.
