“very disappointing”

Unfortunately the House seems to be closed more than its open, no explanation on the website, just states House closed. In comparison to other NT properties Osterley seems to close frequently, house, café, with no explanation. Sudden closures seem to be a very recent theme this year, unlike previous years. Very poor from the staff at Osterley.

The house is lovely and the café located in the stables was quite nice. I arrived almost at the end of the day and I had a cup of tea and a ploughman's roll, both nice. All the volunteers and staff were absolutely adorable and I did enjoy the amazing house and the grounds. Recomendable if you are in the area.

What a wonderful experience! Not only is the house stunning but the grounds are amazing too. We found the staff in the house absolutely brilliant, knowledgeable, passionate and keen to answer the kids questions. It's a gem of a place in London. A must do on a lovely spring / summer's day.

Excellent day out

We visited here on Easter Friday, in glorious sunshine. As we are members of the National Trust parking was free, but you have to scan your membership card for a ticket. We had a good coffee from the coffee wagon sitting outside, then visited the house. Wonderful paintings and furniture, with excellent guides who were most informative. We then had lunch from the cafe, sitting outside in the sunshine. We then walked in the beautiful walled garden and grounds. An excellent day out.

A different style of house and gardens to explore

It is an interesting house, not the usual grand place from years ago but it's been refashioned in the owners idea of what a house should be. It does have a suite of grand rooms, installed as a status symbol after the fashion had wained. So it's an interesting mixture.
The gardens open up more and more as you wander around them. There are lots of areas that you can't see as you set off. We'll worth the walk.
We didn't venture into the parkland but there, are walks there too.

This was my to do list when Igot my first art pass in 2019,but guess what got in the way!
Got our new art passes in February 2022 and finally visited on a sunny Friday in March.

Its easy for us to get here(we live near the piccadilly line!),its a fifteen minute walk from Osterley tube.We get free entry with our art pass.

The house is very nice but not everything was open(didnt see the kitchen).
Gardens are beautiful,you could walk for miles!

The cafe is nice,but there was only 1 member of staff serving over a busy lunch time,we had to come back when it was quieter and have afternoon cream tea.

A pleasant day out and not too far from home!

An historical house not to be missed

NT property a stones throw from central London
Fabulous house with original furnishings. The gardens are informal and lovely parkland to walk in. The stable block is being restored but will look stunning once finished.
You have to pay to park so worth considering National Trust membership

This is a very impressive location- excellent gardens with good signage and interpretation - thank you. Highly recommended.
Well maintained tarmac paths greatly appreciated.

Restaurant facility and food was good but do feel for the staff producing drinks from a tiny and cramped kitchen. Staff attitude was good despite being extremely busy.

There is a clearly marked area for dogs off leads- but one negative was that most (but not all) dog owners seemed to disregard this. Result was loose dogs on all the green space to the front of the house, and some on the paths.

We appreciate such selfish and unthinking attitude is a headache for the NT- and this is written by a dog lover.

Even in winter it’s worth a trip here, though I must say the small winter exhibition and garden would not be worth the £10 entry price. Wait until summer when the whole house opens. But the park around the house is a surprisingly large space. You never get away from the plane and traffic noise (the M4 cuts though the park) but it’s as close to the country as you’re going to get in London. The cafe is worth a visit.
