Noticed this on a wet day but do also visit the garden which is brilliant. Wonderful local museum full of interesting history in a magnificent building. And it is definitely worth a generous donation as it is FREE !! thank you to the volunteers!

Lots of old photos and written histories which you could read sitting at a table, plus the usual old artefacts. The bonus was that it was free, although of course contributions welcomed.

Very interesting little local museum, just like others in small towns not on the main tourist routes.We could have spent more time just browsing.

My Granddaughter and I had been walking from our camp site and dropped in.
We were greeted with a warm welcome by a lovely cheerful lady.
She was very enthusiastic about the museum.
We spent about an hour looking round.
Lots of information about the people and Porlock.
Fascinating.

My daughter and I had a fantastic time looking at all the history of porlock. The staff were so helpful. There was also a lovely garden at the back to have our lunch. Would recommend when visiting porlock.

In some respects it is disappointing as there are very few old artefacts relating to the building but this free small volunteer museum is well worth visiting. There is much modern local history to be discovered which in time will in itself become "old" history. The building on the main road to the east of the centre dates from 1450 and so is not entirely mobility friendly.There is a sloping garden at the rear with ramp access having local views but there are obviously a lack of volunteers to help maintain it.

We were very warmly welcomed and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. A very interesting museum about local life.

This place is small but filled with history, a must visit if you are in the area. The staff are welcoming and informative.
