Know when to stop and get off your vehicle. The road isn’t too bad but if your ATV struggles to get up moderate hills then proceed at your own risk. If you decide to walk down it’s not too bad but the walk up will be hell.
Overall it’s a pretty interesting site and the views are amazing.

Well worth enduring the poor condition road to get to this spooky deserted site. Abandoned engines, workshops and track equipment evoke thoughts of the basic and difficult conditions the nine workers must have faced on a daily basis.

You must visit this place. Swimming amongst rusting heavy mining equipment and ruins of a sulfur mine has to be in everyone's bucket list.

Yes the road to the old mine is a little rough nothing that's not manageable with either a scooter or a quad. Very interesting abandoned mine. The water is also has a tint of yellow but nevertheless a great Beach to snorkel on. I even saw a small manta ray. Make the effort you won't be disappointed

We drove a four wheel drive and still decided to pull over and walk where the road got too bad. But 100% worth it! The little beach and old buildings were a highlight of our trip to Milos.

What you need to get there:
1- a 4 wheel vehicle (we had a daihatsu terios)
2- patience (a bit distant and isolated off-road to get there)
3- Recommended: bring some towels and beach wear.
All worth it!!
Abandoned sulfur mine since WW2, pretty amazing site for adventurers.
The beach is even more amazing, emerald crystal water with yellow pebbles.

A site not to be missed in Milos.

The island of Milos is famous for its mining and for its beaches. A place to best experience both at the same time is the wonderful little beach at Paliorema (familiar Greek for: bad creek). There used to be a sulphur mine, whcih got started end of the 19th century and petered out in the 1960's.

To get here is easiest by sea. From the landside one has to drive on dirt roads through an area with stiil active mines and fast driving lorries. Taxi drivers on Milos will usually not come to this part. The last stretch is steep, with many bends and narrow, so only recommended for a 4x4, and even then one wouldn't want to encounter a vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

When coming here with friends we usually left the vehicles on top and walked down and up again. Water and food has to be brought along, if one wants to spend some time there. When exploring the area, some caution is still recommended, as it would be in any old mining area with rusting items, old holes, falling apart walls and so on.

All the small details such as clothes, tools, cans etc. are still in the premises, yet the rust and erosion makes you realise this place was left decades ago.
The enormous size of the site makes the place even more impressive, with endless rooms and tunnels to discover.
I would recommend to park your vehicle (unless you have a 4x4) 500m before the mine and enjoy the stunning view along the walk. With the sunset and evening coolness this place turns into a hidden gem.

Felt like a western ghost town but even more interesting. Lots to see and explore but be careful because the buildings are not stable.

Beach location is beautiful and we actually visited on a private boat but we did see some people make it with 4x4s. Not to be missed. Like nothing else on the island.
