Beautiful and amazing beach. Scenery like from the moon. It is worth to visit but it can be difficult for some people walk around or get to the water. Uneven surface and slippery rocks, so as a beach it is only for very fit and young people.

*ONE STAR JUST TO BRING AWARENESS* this place is beautiful (obviously) BUT don’t make the same mistake I (and many other reviewers) seem to have made. Once you get down to the bottom there’s a big cave entrance, when you go in if you go to the left there’s a decent dropoff in pitch black. No signage or warning. I destroyed my ankle, and I’ve seen many other reviews mentioning worse injury. Wish I read beforehand! Be safe and enjoy!

Extremely scenic beach with caves and cliffs to explore. We went as part of tour so there was no time to relax and swim or jump off the cliffs. One of kind scenery and landscape. Must see on Milos.
Suggestions:
Plan to spend some time and swim or jump off the rocks.
Be sure to explore the caves excavated by the German army in WW2.
Some of the walking and navigating the rocks could be difficult for some. Wear good shoes.
Only thing keeping it from being a 5star was the crowd. Go early in the day.

Went in July with my family (11 and 13 yr old) This was the most magnificent beach we have ever seen! You will need to take care walking down, there is no trail. Make sure you have good shoes. There is no washrooms and a very small beach with minimal shade, but you can sit on the rocks. There is a food truck at the entrance, with food, drinks and icecream. In the water be careful not to sit on the rocks with green moss, you will get poked by something. My son got stung by what we think was a jellyfish, so we had to leave. We did go back another day just to walk around the cool formations and check out the fascinating caves (bring a flashlight and watch your step)
Sarakiniko Beach really is a must see even if you don’t go swimming.

This breathtaking place is out off this world! Perfect for making pictures, enjoy this unique scenery.
There are not many spots with shade, so visit early in the morning or in the afternoon! Walk around the bay, there are so many beautiful spots to be discovered.
There is a canteen at the parking where you can get water, coffee etc.
For swimming just choose another beach, this one is for being amazed!!!

Beautiful spot! Busy in the afternoon, with boaters, yachts, etc. Food truck near the beach was nice for cold drinks and snacks.
Be prepared that there are no bathrooms or umbrellas on site :). You may want to bring a mat for under your towel as all the pretty rocks to lay on are quite rough and not the nicest to lay out on but the views and water are spectacular so well worth it to visit. Some cool caves nearby as well.

**BEWARE VENOMOUS SEA ANEMONES IN SHALLOW WATER**
This beach is absolutely gorgeous, I’d recommend going to take photos but be very very cautious in shallow water if you are planning to swim. 1 star to flag sea anemone problem.
There are venomous sea anemones growing on the rocks here and I was stung by them. They look like green moss on the rocks and can sting if you brush against them. It felt like sharp needles pricking my skin and then the area became very red and swollen after leaving the water and felt like the skin was burning.
I asked the pharmacy and they said the only beach they grow on in Milos is Sarakiniko and the issue is fairly common with the pharmacy seeing around 20 cases per day.
— Sharing what I did to treat it, in case it is helpful. I am not a doctor though so please have it looked at if you are concerned. —
I went to the nearest pharmacy and they told me to apply an “anti-cort” cream 2-3 times per day and lidocaine cream to stop the burning feeling. I also took an oral anti-histamine for 5 days to stop the swelling/redness. After getting back to the US (6 days after the sting) I went to my doctor and they told me to use a vitamin A & D ointment to keep the skin moisturized/prevent itching and to stop using the anti-Cort since the skin was now trying to heal. They said what happened was similar to being stung by jellyfish or bee venom.

Landed on the moon and, although our visit was nerve wrecking, we had an overwhelming experience. For those seeking for adventure and the adrenaline of jumping from a cliff, this is your place. Something different, not your average beach.

Really out of this world moon like landscape. Beach section is tiny. We climbed around and found a secluded spot early in the morning before the crowds arrived (mainly Americans).
Left before the sun started scorching down.
Plenty of parking and food van to get drinks/snacks.

Bonjour

We were just at Sarakiniko Beach a week ago and my 11 year old daughter also had the unfortunate luck of being stung by what one reviewer called the “plant dragons” in the water. We took her to the hospital and they recommended a cream. It seemed to get better after 6 days and the scabs fell off but now the area seems to be swollen again and very stiff. I am wondering if anyone else had this experinence with this plant in the water at that beach and what they used to treat the injury obtained.
Thanks!
Liz

Hi. I just wanted to follow up in case anyone is reading this that is planning on going to Milos. My daughter’s arm healed pretty well after all but it took over a month to heal and then another month or two for the scarring to diminish. It was extremely painful for her and I want others that go to Sarakiniko beach to be aware and not go along the edges of the wading area - at least that was where my daughter was when she was stung. Milos was our favorite Island from the ones we visited during our trip but I can’t say the same for my daughter since she has very bad memories of her time there. Luckily she had a long sleeved swim shirt and had to wear that every day after the incident since she was not supposed to get sun on the “burn”.
