Gorgeous Alpine Lake

This is a gorgeous lake next to the Zugspitze. You can go up to the top of the mountain and then come here to hike around the lake. It is about 4 miles to hike around and there are nice paths. The lake is surrounded by the Bavarian Alps so you have gorgeous views all around you.

Plan a trip to this lake no matter what it takes!!

So stunning, my words cannot do this lake justice. It is picture perfect. The water is absolutely crystal clear, the mountain views stunning, and the hike around beautiful. I fell head over heels in love with this lake that we managed to squeeze in 2 visits during our short 1 week stay. The first visit we hired a peddle boat and cruised across the lake, taking dips in the water as we went. The second time we just sat at the waters edge with a picnic. We had strudel and coffee in the restaurant both times which was very tasty. My son also had the cheeseburger at 20 euro!! Not worth the money and not a great burger - but then you don't go to Germany for the cuisine!

The lake gets extremely busy at the weekends and parking can be an issue. The first time we went in the late afternoon during the week and had no problems, the second was on a Saturday around midday and it was rather chaotic!

I would absolutely recommend a visit to this jaw dropping lake. Just go very early, or wait until the balmy early evening.

So very beautiful, but busy!

I came here 2 days in a row. The first day I only had time for a 40 minute walk as I had to catch the train back. It was the last Sunday of the summer holidays and gorgeous weather so the whole place was jumping! I don't regret my decision to come as it was a whole lot cooler in the mountains/by the lake than 29 degrees Munich would have been, but my return the next day was far more enjoyable. Absolutely stunningly beautiful, a lovely flatish walk around the perimeter (took about 2 hours) and plenty of secluded bathing spots as well as the more obvious and heavily used ones. The water was cool but not icy, and absolutely crystal clear. The restaurant was quite expensive and I had mixed experiences with the staff, but the Himbeerkuchen was absolutely delicious!

Great Lake, beautiful views

Initially planned on taking the lift to the top of the mountain but that ended up being $75 per person so we spent the day at the lake instead. Water was cold but so clear and refreshing that it was worth the swim. After that we rented a peddle boat for an hour and took that around to see some of the small islands. After that got some quality ice cream, although it is cash only so be aware of that. Great day trip.

Exhilarating walk round lake Eibsee at foot of zugspitze

Beautiful stunning walk round the lake. Took about 2.5hrs with a few photo stops. Amazing scenery and breathtaking mountains. Honestly a great place to just get away from it all for a few hours. Wide track suitable for pushchairs, strollers, buggies or wheelchairs. Some inclines and descents in parts but nothing too strenuous. Take a full battery on your phone or a proper camera as you will take many many photos. Each half a km the scenery changed. Plenty of parking too and a circular walk with stops for toilet and snacks

What a place

We took the bus from Garmisch and couldn't believe what we saw on arrival, stunning scenery. Every imaginable water sport and water social was available and at a reasonable price. I will definitely return next when hopefully my injury will be resolved and we'll walk around it

Scenic lake with activities

This is a beautiful lake to visit. Just below the cable car station is a lovely 2 hour walk around it's perimeter. Lots of benches along the way to sit and gaze at the great views. You can hire boats etc from the pavilion. There is also a reasonably priced restaurant .
The lake is clean and is fine to swim in.
A full day can easily be absorbed in a visit here.

Beautiful lake and great for hiking

We took the cog wheel train down from Zugspitze and got out at the first stop so we could hike down to Eibsee. It was beautiful views of the lake and we really enjoyed it. We didn’t get into the lake, as it was a very hot day and it was very crowded. But it looked like a lot of fun. Next time!

Great walk around a beautiful lake

A fairy easy walk around the beautiful Eibsee underneath the Alps. The only difficulty might be finding a parking spot during weekend.

Beautiful blue lake.

We decided to eat by the lake in the Pavillion restaurant as the weather was poor, raining and lightening but as we ate the sun came out and revealed the most amazing blue lake. It’s hard to describe how pretty it is.
This prompted us to walk, we decided to walk to the right, there was a good path and a little bridge to cross over. There were people on the beach area and in the water. Lots of little islands and every shade of blue in the water. We didn’t walk all the way around as didn’t have time. it reminded us of Canada!
