The lake itself is gorgeous and great for paddle boarding on a warm day. I would definitely recommend that! You can rent them there for 16 euros for the first hour and 12 per hour after that initial hour, which is a bit expensive, so if you can bring your own paddle board I’d do that. The lake is large, has beautiful clear water and a couple little islands you can paddle to. Obviously the views around you are breathtaking, with the mountains and the Zugspitze on one side of it and nice nature all around.
The thing that disappointed me a little was the beach/bathing area. It was really just a small stretch of grass and tiny pebbles where you’re sitting/lying right next to other people because of the limited space. You can also sit further back on some slightly higher up stretches of grass, where you’ll have a bit more space. But it wasn’t that attractive for me to sit there, as you’re not right by the water. It’s all right to chill for a few hours/an afternoon but only if you packed your own lunch and brought your own drinks. There’s no facilities at the bathing area whatsoever. No place to buy some food or drinks and also no toilets. The latter is the very least I’d expect at a ‘beach’. Especially since it’s quite touristy with a tourist shop and restaurant at the beginning of it, (20 minute-ish walk from the bathing area) but providing some basic toilets by the beach is too much effort?
Loads of people just went to sit on a rock by the water instead of the beach, but on a warm afternoon most of these places will be taken. So arrive on time if you want to find a nice spot to chill for the day.
One other minor flaw is the fact that all the bins were spilling over and there was a lot of rubbish surrounding the bins. Don’t know if that’s because of a lack of maintenance or just people producing too much rubbish.

Sooo many people, the lake is beautiful, but the crowds make you want to go somewhere else. Very limited facilities. Crowded parking.

We went to Eibsee on 27th July 2024. Weekend and the school break just started. It was awful. The pictures I have seen before never had any people in them. There were people, everywhere! It was hot there was no place to sit and chill. Never ever go there during that time if you mind huge crowds.

The four mile hike around the lake was so beautiful! I especially enjoyed the green and blue colors of the water with the mountains in the background! We rented a rowboat for 13 euros for one hour, note one hour is the maximum time for boat rental and you’re not allowed to land on the islands. I recall canoes rented for $100+ an hour at Lake Louise in Banff so was pleased the hourly rental was a bargain here. It was quite crowded with people on Saturday but pleasantly sparse on Monday.

It was a great trip. The nature composition and air purity were magnificent. The walking tour around the lake took approximately 4 hours. I recommend taking water and snacks with you.

Amazing hike with beautiful sights. A little over 5miles miles of hiking. The hike was easy and there was so many beautiful sights. The snow my mountain tops were amazing. A must see if you are in the area.

Lovely lake with a path to walk around it. The path is not challenging with almost no ups and downs. Great view of the Zugspitze

This is a stunning location and offers so much to the visitor in the form of water sports. The walk around the lake is a good stroll. The restaurant near the entry point offers traditional German food and drink at reasonable prices. My wife and I intend to visit the location again next year.

Was suppose to go up to the zugspitze, but all departures that day was full. Ended up walking around the lake and it was so many beautiful places that we did not miss zugspitze.

Eibsee is an amazing lake with stunning views! I would suggest getting there early as you would avoid the “rush hour” of people visiting, which tends to be around midday. After hiking round the lake a meal at one of the three restaurants situated there is a must. p.s. for those hiking enthusiasts staying in Gruinao I would recommend hiking there as the trail is not so hard and the views along the way do not disappoint.

Sorry my spanish ist not to good.
You can drive to the lake but you have to pay for parking.
The Restaurant is good but price is high. More local are the restaurants in Grainau.

I’m not sure we were there in July and it was beautiful.. it can be changeable because of the height above sea level and being in the mountains .. if you take layers and waterproof outer things it’ll be fine from April to September I would imagine.. well worth a visit .. stunning scenery

Estarei indo de Fussein para conhecer Zugspitze e o Lago Eibsee e gostaria de saber o que é mais viável, mais bonito, mais interessante, ir de carro até Garmish e iniciar o passeio por lá ou ir de carro até o Lago Eibsee e de lá pegar o teleférico?

We didn’t see any but there are so many isolated areas that once we found such a place, we got down to the water from the hiking trail, and used towels to make screens for one another to ensure privacy and changed into swimming gear that way. It was no problem.
