I am not big fan of cavernas but this place was part of our day tour. I actually enjoy visiting this cavern as you can see more cool things compare to other caverns. Really interesting and I recomend it.

I've seen much better limestone caves in another countries. Not worth the trip. Much rather go to Gocta Falls and/or Carajia. You need boots to go in, but they are not available for renting at that location, there are no lights, it is very poorly managed.

Visiting with headlight or torch is part of attraction. Cave itself is an average with just few spots and with limited light from your torch, you will really more enjoy atmosphere of exploreres than nice stalactites. If your time around Chachapoyas is limited, go elswhere, if you have plenty of time, this cave is worth for visit.

The visit to the Caverna de Quiocta was very nice and fun.
Once you get there, you have to wear high boots, because the mud inside the cave is very slimy and insidious. Each person receives a torch, and with this you need to illuminate to see where you put your feet.
If you leave the path you risk ending up in muddy areas from where it is quite difficult to get out, because the mud sucks the boot and it is really very difficult to get it out.
Inside there are 6 or 7 very large rooms, which are completed in about an hour or so. There are many stalactites and stalagmites and by aiming the torch at the top you can see many bats resting on the roof of the cave.
Attention to illuminate them for too long. You can wake up and start flying.

This was a great experience and a lot of fun. This cave has amazing stalagmites and stalactites. The walk is a little bit rough, be sure to have adequate shoes and flashlights.

To get to the Quiocta Cave is a little complicated because of the long ride and the scarcity of public transportation. Inside you can see a cave with a few stalactites and stalagmites, but be sure to bring plastic boots because it is muddy and humid inside.

Visiting this cave was a highlight of our trip. The site is very basic without many upgrades for tourists like lights and clean walkways- which is great with me - just be ready to walk through mud and underground streams to seem some amazing stalagmites and stalactites.

All I can say is this, I had a dream about this cave and to walk in to it and see it exactly as pictured was amazing. Only allowed in with a tour guide, you'll be given boots for the process. Its very wet and muddy. The temperature can drop so dress warmly. You can bring your camera in however it is very dark. Strongly suggest bringing a strong flashlight (not your phone) and/or a headlamp. To see the structures of time in the came was an awe and shouldn't be overlooked.

We visited these caves on a full day tour from Chachapoyas which also included the sarcophagi of Karajía. The full day excursion was far too long, lasting almost 11 hours. I'd prefer to have done a half day trip to Karajia and not visited the caves at all as they aren't all that special if you've seen other caves around the world. Much of the time is spent wading through deep mud by torchlight to access the six caverns. I'm surprised an earlier poster compared them with the Caves of Nerja in Spain, in my opinion they pale into insignificance in comparison.
