One of the best experiences of being on the Cape- the oversand access to Race Point and Hatches Harbor. I haven't parked and walked onto the paid public section of beach in over a decade, so I can't say much on that. But as a pristine spot where you can set up with the family for the day, have a beach fire (with a permit) see the most amazing sunsets over the water on the east coast.... I can't imagine anyplace better. My suggestions for enjoying this place to the fullest: Go with a 4x4 vehicle, go to the NPS race point website before going. There's a list of requirements to get the permit such as a full size spare tire, a tire Guage that goes down to 5psi, a jack, tow strap etc. So make sure you check the website and know the requirements! They have weekly access passes for about 50 bucks between April and November. If you have a self contained camper, you can get a self contained vehicle sticker and camp right on the sand. Air your tires down, that is the number one requirement to getting out there once you have the permit from the ranger station/ permit office. I drive a Chevy 2500, and run my tires at 12psi on the sand. Low and slow. It's an experience to be had if you have the opportunity. Be respectful of the beach, bring a trash bag and pick up garbage if you see it, that's always nice.

This place was amazing! The weather was great . We saw whales and alot of seals. Can't wait to go back.
