There is plenty of room here to enjoy the sand & the water. There is ample parking & nice views. This is what Cape Cod is all about.

We parked to the left as there were less cars and a handicapped entrance to the beach. We were told that seals are here. Grandsons wanted to see seals, but none appeared. Collected a few unusual stones and left. People were resting and some were swimming.

Nude at the Herring Cove Pavilion
Recently, my husband and I took a day trip to Herring Cove Beach at the tip of Cape Cod. It had been so hot that we were in the habit of going nude at home, so we drove nude to the beach. On the way down, I enjoyed some creamy snacks that my husband provided for my morning protein.
After paying $25 at the entrance, we parked close to the left of the pavilion. My husband put a baggie swimsuit on (a pouch that ties around the base of his genitals), but I stayed naked as we walked to the restrooms at the pavilion. According to the rules, genitals and female nipples are supposed to be covered. But hardly anyone was around at 10:30 AM, so I took a chance. No one said a thing.
Then we hopped back in the car and rode to the far left end of the parking lot. From there we walked further down the beach for about 5-6 minutes. Dozens of people were already on the beach, but to the extent that people saw me naked and my husband almost naked as we walked by – given the towels, umbrella, cooler, etc. that we were carrying – not a negative word was spoken.
We walked until we came to the No Pets signs. There are now two rows of such signs, separated by about 100 feet. We set up closer to the second set than to the first.
My husband removed his swimsuit and we spent all day on the beach naked. A few m/f couples and two single men were also nude a little farther down the beach. Walking for another 10 minutes or so would get you to the gay men’s beach, which includes its own nude section. We’ve been there, done that.
There was a nice breeze, and the water was warm and gentle. We had enough food and drink to last the entire day. When the mood struck, we engaged in intensive 1-on-1 activity. I can say that the mood struck more than once.
In the afternoon, a lifeguard on an ATV came down and turned around between the two sets of No Pets signs. There were no beach patrols by Park Rangers.
When we left (after 6:00 PM), we walked back to our car as we were (both naked). There were still quite a number of people on the beach, but they paid us no heed. The lifeguards had called it a day, and no Park Rangers were in evidence as we walked to the pavilion – me naked and my husband once again wearing his pouch swimsuit.
After rinsing off in the indoor showers, we got in the car and headed home. Several people saw us walking to and from the pavilion, but all acted as if our appearances were nothing out of the ordinary. Who knows what they thought or did behind our backs. We didn’t hang around to find out.

You can drive to this beach and all the amenities are there in season- lots of parking, bathrooms, changing room, food, picnic tables, entrance to bike paths, but I love the walking path through the tidal river found much closer to town on RT6. Opening is marked with a sign, bicycles often line the fence. You cannot park a car here. Go at low tide, and wear water shoes or bare feet. Nature back there is quiet and lovely. Birds may dive during particular nesting seasons and entrance onto the ocean portion is often roped so nests are undisturbed so follow the footprints around the ropes. You can walk to this portion from the formal beach area and even continue to the breakwater back across to town, but it will be a couple hours, bring water. Coyotes do not seem to be a problem currently but I always keep my eyes open and DO NOT eat food.

We were exploring outdoors activities and always love National Parks. This place is a gem! We had the beach all to ourselves. Not crowded at all.

Walked here from Provincetown- it took us about 40 minutes from the centre of town. It's an easy walk - there is a pavement/cycle path all along the route.
The beach was clean, and towards the end of September, pretty deserted.

Herring cove is my favorite beach not just because of the beach but because of the snack bar with changing rooms and real restrooms next to it. Makes spending the whole day there so much easier and comfortable. Bus stop from town stops and picks up so conveniently. Race point is great but there were only porta potties when I went and they were in the parking lot. Herring Cove is way better!

Beautiful nude beach in Provincetown. Walk 20 minutes to the left of the beach entrance at the parking lot. You can’t miss it. You will see some scattered nudes, couples, etc. after the “no dogs allowed” sign but the actual place to be is another 10 minute walk from there Mostly gay men but an over all mixed crowd enjoying no tan lines. Enjoy both the bay side in the ocean side. You won’t regret the walk.

No. However, someone who is permanently disabled can get a lifetime pass valid at all national parks, wildlife refuges, and historical sites managed by federal agencies for no charge.

At low tide there are a bunch of smaller rocks and shells to navigate, but towards the top of the beach’s area is it a course sand

We know nude sun bathing is not legal, but it’s tolerated. At about what point walking down the beach from the main parking lot is it ‘safe’ for my wife and I to set up camp and layout nude? Is there a marker or milestone we could see to help us know once we’re there?

The topographical details and the signage seem to be different every summer, so things could be changed next year. However, last summer straight people went nude right at and beyond the signs about dogs not being allowed beyond that point. One of the pictures that I posted in conjunction with my 2019 review shows the signs.
This point is about a 10-minute walk from the far left entrance of the parking lot. Walking another 10 minutes will get you past the area where the dunes have been flattened and into the gay section. The gay men’s nude section is about 5 minutes’ walk farther.
My husband and I tend to walk briskly. If you proceed at a more leisurely pace, adjust the times accordingly.

Yes, you can park for free or also take a ride by bike. It's about 20 min by bike from downtown.

Whats the best ways to see the whales?
Is the 5 hr ferry out to nantuckett to spend a day?
What about hyannis? Take a car drive over?

Falmouth, MA66 kontribusi
The best way to see the whales up close is to go to Provincetown and take a whale watching trip from MacMillan Wharf. Nantucket is an island about 30 miles out of Hyannis. The Cape and Island Steamship Authority has ships leaving for Nantucket about every hour. The high-speed ferry cost about $50.00. It only takes 1-1/2 to two hours for the Hyannis/Nantucket trip. Cape Cod has the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority. Buses run from Wood's Hole in Falmouth to P-Town. A bus trip on any "fixed Route" is $2.00 or $1.00 for seniors. Hyannis has a trolley that makes a loop every 1/2 hour. The trolley cost $1.00 I hope this helps you.
are dogs allowed on the beach during summer months (july)?

Can you park at Herring Cove overnight with season pass?

No over night parking but you can sit there in your car until the sun comes up. A little quirky National Seashore issue. Be aware that Herring Cove Beach is a pick-up place for gay men after dark.

Is there a cost for parking and beach access?
Chase C
Westfield, IN194 kontribusi
There is a fee. We did not have a car, so I'm not sure what the parking fee is, but it was 3 dollars per person to walk in. Our kids were free. We Ubered there, but if you do this, know that there is not a data signal out there, so you will need to call traditional cab for pick up. The shuttle out there from town is very unpredictable, and it's cash only. Hope that helps!
