The people working here have vast knowledge to help you decide what to see or do on your trip to the area. They provided maps and brochures on all the sites we told them we were interested in. The gentleman even hand-marked the locations of some of the windmills for us, which was so kind and helpful of him. They offer short films and a museum at the visitor center. Glad we stopped here!

We spent the better part of an hour at this informative visitor center. The small museum displays interesting artifacts and displays. There are a variety of films on various subjects that play on a rotation (however check at the front desk for the schedule as the posted one was not accurate). There are several easy walking trails that depart and return to the center.

I live on the Cape, and I love coming by the visitor center whenever we are in the area. There are great short films, a gift shop, maps of the area, and knowledgeable staff.

We are always interested in seeing any national park site so felt it was important to stop at the salt pond. We had a wonderful visit. This is mainly because we went on a Ranger led tour with Katie. Katie was very interested in imparting knowledge of the area to our small group and in helping us understand the natural history and ecology of the area. She genuinely appreciated our interest and questions. The walk was physically easy and a good use of time. The rangers working inside the visitor center were so kind about helping me get NPS passport stamps.

This is the primary visitors center for the cape cod national seashore park, with a nice movie explaining what it is and where things are headed.

A nice new VC with a nice view, trails easily accessible, many restrooms, friendly rangers, a gift shop and a theatre. Easy to locate.

Good information for orienting to the southern section of the park. Their is a medium sized museum with some nice area artifacts, particularly related to cranberries and whaling. The main bathrooms are in a separate building. water bottle refill stations are next to the bathroom. The parking lot is large and can handle a decent crowd. The gift store is small and get's crowded early. The trails and views outside the back of the center are beautiful.

What a beautiful place! Excellent visitor center with short film about the area and Cape Cod National seashore. Good little museum too. Nice walking trails of all difficulty levels, including a trail for blind people with braille signs and info about the various plants. We stopped off on our way to Provence town. Don’t pass it by.

Good for quick break and orientation. Very nice picnic area and walks available around the building. No food (not even vending machines) though.

Any there any fish in Salt Pond? Is it worth fishing?

There are definitely fish in the pond .. I know this because we walked through in our bare feet & they were everywhere. Never saw anyone fishing did see spots where it looked like people would of fished from. There are plenty of Park Rangers around & a van visitors center for questions.

No - the ranger led program rents canoes. Other places DO rent kayaks (see responses). You need to call the Salt Pond Visitor Center to register first. They also provide the instruction about canoe safety, life vests, paddles and the naturalist. David Shapiro took about 8 of us out on the pond and led the exploration. I loved every minute of it.
