The tour guide was excellent - very informative and funny! Slightly disappointed that the costume echibition was closed.

During the June heatwave we had a super visit.
Gardens, architecture, history, ghost story, cafe, and even a miniture second hand book shop.
But the star is the house tour and its charming collection.

Springhill House is well worth a visit - very interesting original features and the grounds were quite lovely, with a special Dutch Garden in a walled area. There is a tearoom on the premises that offers some delicious treats should you want some refreshment. There are restrooms on the grounds for your convenience as well.

We are Royal Oak members which affords us free entry into National Trust Sights. We decided to visit Springhill on a Saturday afternoon while we were in the area. The grounds were quite lovely, with a special Dutch Garden in a walled area outside the house.
The plantation dates back to the 1600s.The interior features some items stemming from the original owners. There are no group tours due to Covid, but there are volunteers in each room who basically gave us a private tour. They were certain to point out very interesting features and answer any questions that we might have.
The grounds are lovely for a walk, and there is a tea room on the premises that offers some delicious treats should you want some refreshment. There are restrooms on the grounds for your convenience as well.

Visited Springhill last Sunday and was disappointed to discover that the cafe is currently closed. As the day was cool and damp, this was a most unwelcome discovery - I am afraid for me a Sunday afternoon walk is not complete without a coffee and goody, and very often we are looking for a light lunch as well. Do you really expect to attract visitors without the cafe open. Won't be back until we can warm ourselves indoors with a drink and a snack. Rowallen, Castle Ward and Mount Stewart cafes are open - why not Springhill's?

My second time visiting, once as a child and now as an adult. As I child I remembered people dressed up. But I am unsure if it is covid that stopped this. I was a little worried taking a child with no fancy dress. But I was wrong. The staff where brilliant and had the kids search for animals. The tour wasn't to long and the staff where friendly and well informed of the the history of the house. Again unsure of covid but the vegetable garden wasn't there but there was so many more lovely gardens to walk. Plus the outdoor park for the kids. If anything they could do with a picnic table or two more. I definitely wont recommend to others.

My wife and I visited Springhill a few years ago and had a lovely visit, but the house wasn’t open that day.
We finally found ourselves in the area again, with our 2 little people aged 2 and 5 with us this time. On arrival we went straight to the cafe and the staff were so friendly and helpful.
We were just sitting eating when the lady at the reception desk approached us and said would we like the last 4 tickets for the upcoming house tour. Now, as members of the NT we’ve done almost everything in NI, but house tours with toddlers can be pretty stressful, and the Mt Stewart one was frankly less than encouraging towards little people.
We took the plunge and when she gave us the tickets she asked the children to help, make sure the adults don’t touch anything!! She got them hooked! So we got in the house, the kids were firstly, acknowledged in a positive way, and welcomed. They were given little sheets of paper and as we’ve moved from room to room on the tour, they had to find a little fluffy animal in each room. This seemed to immediately put the kids at ease, and therefore they felt included and engaged. We had no ‘touching the exhibit” issues whatsoever. The guide was interesting and engaging.
The rest of the grounds are beautiful and we had a lovely wander. There is also a little dressing up room for the kids too which entertained and informed them beautifully.
This place is set up for adults and kids alike, I wish the weather had been a bit warmer that day as we would’ve walked more but no matter.

We had an excellent Halloween visit to Springhill House today. With 2 Oaps and a teenager we all got great entertainment out of the guide around the spooky House, the lady that showed us was a around was absolutely brillaint and kept all young and old entertained. I must also give a thank you to the ghosts you most definitely scared a lot of us 😱. I would really highly recommend this outing for all ages with other things on over for the smallies right up to the more mature people. It's a truely beautiful location and wish we had more time to walk around the grounds.

We recently enjoyed a visit to the grounds and the tour of house. Our guide was knowledgeable and interesting conducting the tour in a professional manner. Pleasant grounds, very good coffee shop with delicious scones and a small shop!

I have walked the grounds many times after closing time. I am unsure what the official line is with N T, however I never have been challenged by anyone

Grounds from 10-5 and house from noon to 5, that also includes the costume museum, reception, gift shop and cafeteria.
There's a wee website, we're not allowed to post the address here but if you Google Springhill House, Moneymore it'll take you right to the National Trust entry for the house which has all the info you need for visiting.

Bring a picnic as there are lovely places to sit and eat while enjoying the views! There is a small cafe (seasonal). In the "Barn" there is a hot drinks dispenser for tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc. you could eat your picnic there if it rains. They sometimes have traditional food demonstrations were you can sample Irish baking!
