If interested in the history of lace and in the area it is worth a stop. The museum is a small room with a table in the middle where community members can lace together.

A lovely Lady walks you through the displays and educates you on the history of lace.

There is no fee but donations are appreciated (a box is available at the front door table).

The back of the room has a small gift shop.

The lace display changes periodically.

This place is full of history if you love the textures and beauty of decorative elements for clothing and home. It does need to be spruced up a bit - it feels old and out of date in so many ways. But the information and items on display are certainly worth the visit.

The Lace Museum is located in a mini-mall. The museum is one large room packed with examples of global lace. There are extensive items from the 1900's on forward. There are displaced examples of all type of lace work. Classes are available - if you have time to stay in the area. All information is on a one-on-one process so that you get specialized treatment and all of your questions find answers. There are DOCENTS who work here and are a wealth of knowledge in explaining how lace portraits are created and how lace is such a unique and sadly falling craft. When you view the gowns, dresses, blouses, and all of the table items in lace you will understand. It is a fantastic stop if you are looking for a creative and genuinely unique craft hobby.

My family likes to see things and this has popped up on our list several times and we finally went. Its a cross between a store and a grand display. The thing that made it worthwhile was that Mary the owner was there and you could see the passion for lace in her very being. Saw and heard some interesting stories about how she came across pieces and who might have worked on them. You only need about an hour if you love lace, 1/2 hour if you are curious and Mary is there. Ask a question and info flows.

This is a touch if you want museum and everything is probably for sale if you work it. Stop by and check it out . . .

This is a tiny museum devoted to lace. It is free and staffed by volunteers, so don't expect a large ornate display. The staff were very friendly and when the woman who was volunteering found out that we do knitting and other fiber crafts, she made sure that we saw all the samples they had of knitted lace. She showed us pieces of their collection that were in drawers and gave us the history of pieces around the room, including how different lace techniques are done throughout the world. We felt very welcomed and would recommend this to people who are interested in the history of textiles and fiber crafts.

The museum is only one tinny room with couple of work hanging on the wall.
If you fill like lacing you can go there.
I have been there 3 min and went.

This small, one-of-a-kind museum is in a quiet Sunnyvale strip mall. Exhibits change regularly, showcasing exquisite hand work - from collars to christening dresses to wedding gowns and everything in-between. A knowledgable volunteer staff can answer questions, demonstrate techniques, and generally guide you on a tour of all the wonderful pieces on display. Classes available. Donations of lace items and $$$ gratefully accepted.

My knowledge of lace didn't go much farther than the rock n roll song "Chantilly Lace" and the doilies from my great grandmother before visiting the Lace Museum.

A recent article in the San Jose Mercury News on the Museum's White on White Exhibit (on through June 24) spurred me to visit. Now I'm all enthusiastic for people to experience it.

There are beautifully displayed examples of vintage lace, embroidery and fine hand work from France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, and Eastern European regions (to name a few.)

This is a teaching Museum that not only preserves laces of the past but also has small classes on technique and the facets of lace making.

The Museum is staffed entirely by volunteers and is funded by donations.

The current show is sponsored by the San Francisco School of Needlework and Design who has included modern pieces in the exhibit.

There are unique gift items for sale.
