Glorious Scenery and Magnificent Views
Jun 2021
This beautiful and nicely maintained Park is located along the La Jolla Coastline. It was a wonderful place to spot friendly Seals and Sea Lions sunning themselves, while playing with each other and their pups, on the top of the Sandstone Cliffs. Also, in close proximity there are the Cormorants, Pelicans and Seagulls hoping to steal some scraps of fish that the Seals bring in from the ocean. You can spend hours just relaxing there watching all their playful activities. The crystal clear waters of the Pacific pounding on the rocks formed one of the best back-drops we have seen. The Seals have become bolder over the years, and we saw a bunch of them who had no problem swimming right alongside some people who had jumped in to take a refreshing dip in that cold water. There is a huge grassy area where lots of children were playing, and families were picnicking. The Truffulo Tree right in the middle of the Park was supposedly a big inspiration for a La Jolla native -- Ted Geisel (better known as Dr. Seuss) when he wrote his book “The Lorax”. We were seven of us who arrived in two cars. Parking was a little bit of an issue. We just grabbed the first spots we could find, and were quite far away from each other. But visiting this Park with its stunning vistas was absolutely worth the trouble. We also had a baby with us, and found the entire area to be stroller and wheelchair friendly. This was a big plus. We found this area to be a fun place to relax, and absolutely loved our mini-trip to one of the prettiest tourist attractions located not too far from where we stayed. Highly recommend a visit to all the locals and all the out-of-town visitors.

World Class Location
Jul 2021 • Pasangan
One of my favorite places to visit in Southern California. The Ellen Browning Scripps Park located in La Jolla is stunningly beautiful. During the right lighting and waves conditions you can look right through the translucent water curling. The colors are world class stunning. Aquatic animals are generally present with hiking trails around the park easy to moderate. Watch for signs cautioning access to several areas.

Where green meets blue
Des 2019
An interesting beach where green meet, between the Children pool and La Jolla Cove, it is a nice family-friendly place to sit and enjoy the blue waves from the green grass.

breathtaking views
Agt 2020
This park was magnificent, The views, the surrounding neighborhood. The cliff area that was around the park, the green space. My teen boys went swimming in the water for a bit. We saw plenty of seals!! Unfortunatly, other tourists were very close to the seals. They had plenty of pupps around. I was a bit nervous that people could stand this close to them.
We did run into a homeless man who was actively digging in a trash can. This we can ignore; well...he was angry and my kids felt uncomfortable. Plus he was stinky and chose to eat a sandwich out of the garbage in front of us. Quite a site, and certainly not something I thought we would see in the area we were sitting.

Worth it despite the crowds!
Des 2019
Had a tough time finding a place to park, but well worth it. On the winter day we came, it was quite crowded however. There were so many people with booths selling just about anything - that was a little surprise. Fun though to walk around the park - what an amazing tree (Lorax?) that we've seen in pictures many times.
You can also see the sea lions, but you'll have to put up with the ugly tourists who go right up to them and try to pet them and whatever. Hard to believe.
Would be a great place to watch the sunset however.

Must Visit but Parking Can be a Problem
Mar 2019
This is a wonderful park for those who love the ocean. There are lots of activities that you can do such as walking, biking, picnic, sea-life watching (sea gulls, pelicans, sea lions), water activities, and lots of trees. It's a very busy place, especially on mid day. Parking is very difficult as it gets later in the day. We stayed at the Pantaii Inn which is just across the park and it's a plus to not have to drive to enjoy the park. It's also an awesome location if you plan on getting excellent sunset photos. And because it is so near the water, always bring a sweater, SPF lotion, water for hydration, and of course, your camera.

Lorax Tree and the View
Feb 2019
We visited in October of 2018. My wife and I are natives of San Diego. We are sure that we both spent time here as kids stopping here for lunch while on school field trips and summer day camps. We brought our own kids to see visit La Jolla Cove and to Ellen Browning Scripps Park. Having grown up in Scripps Ranch and a lover of Dr. Seuss books, we shared this special place with our children. We feel so fortunate to have been able to visit the Lorax tree before it tumbled. The views from this spot are absolutely gorgeous!
