Nice little side trip on the way down to the Vik area and southward! Takes about 15 minutes if you are in a hurry, but if you are into dwarves, elves, Tolkien and all the above a shirt walk to these rock formations is great!

Small but nice

The site and parking are free. It was a short and easy walk and it was great, but I had expected it to be bigger and the rocks higher. It felt, indeed, a little dwarved. Unfortunately, there was a bus with tourists, who did not stick to the rules: they left the path to picknick on the vulnarable fauna and rocks.

A great treat!

I am so happy that a friend told me about this place. A short but very sweet walk from the car, do go the full circle. The weather was great and we enjoyed the short break from the car.

Not much to see

We we had a long drive and were looking for somewhere interesting to stop to break up the journey. We planned a stop at the Dverghamrar basalt columns. It wasn't that easy to find them as they were located at the end of a small turning on the road. There is a small car park with an information sign and then you can do a short walk to see the columns. There is really very little to see. The views from here are good. There is nothing else here - no facilities.

Great road trip stop!

Perfect place to stop on a road trip across the south coast. Only need 5-10 minutes to appreciate the unique rock forms. Great photo opportunities too!

Quick stop

A quick stop as we drove past. A short walk from the car park down to the columns. A notice board in the car park tells you thr geological and folklore behind the site. However it is only in Icelandic. Worth a stop

Good unplanned stop. No trolls seen.

Lovely little stop, columns and walk through the little woods. Just saw a turn off and took it. So glad we did!

Worth seeing

This is right on the ringroad, has a nice walking path, and takes maybe 15 minutes. I found it interesting. Worth stopping and stretching.

Really cool place for a quick stop, if you're driving on the South side of Iceland. Usually is not too busy since it's not a typical stop for people.
