There’s just so much character and history to be known about this church. I am very glad to join the guided tour to appreciate it.

A big interesting church. From the architectural point of view till the history behind. Take a look at the stones, from which was build. There are plenty grinites till soap-stones used. As many churches in town, they have a nice illumination, so best to take pictures outside is the blue-hour at down. Inside is a very calm and quiet place, also a good place to take pictures with no-flash, specially from the altar.

This church was built by the Jesuits between 1644-1671. I think you cannot visit Córdoba and not see it. The altarpiece is particularly impressive; it is entirely carved in wood by the Jesuits and, one imagines, many aborigines who learned the craft of wood carving from the Jesuits. The old pulpit, likewise carved in wood and lavishly gilded, is also very impressive. The church closes to visitors at 1 pm and reopens at 5 pm.

This church was built by a ship-builder. The roof and ceilings were built like a boat hull. The church has history and some other architectural and cultural details.

When the Jesuits (the order to which the present Catholic pope belongs) were distributed by the new world they came here and built the first church on the ground tha,t after the wars of independence, would become known as Argentina. Since they did not have architects but builders of ships in their group, the roof is an inverted boat that can be visited in the schedules corresponding to the visits. It is a very nice church to visit.

This building and section has an interesting history. You can go down in tunnels for free and have a look around. Don't forget to look down on pavement where the outline of this and other buildings are layed out on the ground.

This church is very central, so well worth checking out on a wander around Cordoba. I recommend the La Docta free walking tour that leaves Plaza San Martin at 11:00 - this is one of the sights that the tour visits.

The Jesuits are so central to the history of Cordoba that visitors should really have this church on their map.

In the heart of the town and part of the "Jesuitic Block" which was declared by Unesco as World Heritage in 2000, the church is a central piece of the Jesuitic buildings which were the site of the capital of the regional domains of this religious order (curiously named Province of Paraguay). The church is the traditional Baroque building lavishly decorated inside and full of artistic values contrasting with a simple facade in the outside.
